PayPal Debit Card - not for all…

New to this blog? See our Popular Posts section to get started, we have tons of great articles that can benefit you. Don't miss the upcoming interesting articles, subscribe to our RSS.

paypal debit cardYou might be aware that some of PayPal’s international users are still can’t withdraw their funds, they can only withdraw to US bank accounts. Recent introduction of Debit Card by PayPal had made many such users happy, unfortunately their happiness didn’t last long, because this debit card is not for everybody. And even worse it’s not for international users it’s mostly for US users. One of the features of PayPal Debit Card is that you can withdraw cash from your PayPal account at ATMs worldwide. This could be a great solution to the problem that international users are having, for now they have to use third party Debit Cards like VMDB.

gCard (paypal withdrawal) service discontinued.

gCard was a debit card that international paypal users could withdraw their funds to. Unfortunately they have discontinued their service in a very short notice and their website is inaccessible now. I myself a gCard user didn’t get any emails from them though, I might have accidentally deleted the email. I hope they will deal professionally and return the funds to the owners. Below is the email that gCard sent to cardholders.

Dear Cardholder,

We regret to inform you that all current card programs sponsored by CU-Connect
and North York Community Credit Union (our issuing bank) are being wound down on
a step-by-step basis. Unfortunately this includes all current gCards.

A copy of the Initial Order and other materials filed with respect to the CCAA
proceeding is available on the website of KPMG Inc., the Court-appointed monitor
of CU-Connect, at www.kpmg.ca/cu-connect.

The initial step is that as of 2:00 p.m. EST on January 5, 2007, no new card
activations and no new loads will be permitted. THIS INCLUDES ALL LOAD OPTIONS
AND ALL CARD CARD-TO-CARD TRANSFERS.
All loads received after this deadline will be returned to its remitter, cost of
return will be charged to the remitter.

All cardholders will be able to process ATM withdrawals until a time period not
defined yet (probably 30 days from today) and continue to access to their online
banking at bank.mygcard.com . If cardholders cannot fully withdraw their
funds within the allotted time period, we will work to ensure that the issuing
bank will return all balances directly to the cardholders.

Unfortunately we received this announcement from CardOne Plus (the banking
platform) only today, and were not able to inform you before. We are surprised
at the short notice, and are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

We are in the process of launching a new card which is scheduled to be available
by the end of January/beginning of February, 2007. At this time we will replace
your current gCard by a new one.

Sincerely,
gCard Team

E-Junkie - sell your products online

e-junkie

Similar to Payloadz that I posted while ago, Ejunkie also offer similar services, namely:

  • Selling your products on your site, and accepting payments through PayPal, 2Checkout and Clickbank
  • Storing your Product and Delivering it to the customers through download links
  • Tracking your product stats, Logs & Notifications
  • Product Promotion, Giving Discount Codes to your customers
  • Creating an affiliate management program for those who sell your products…. etc

The services seem to be great but only one thing, when I first saw the site name and the logo I thought it was some kind of email spam generator service or something. And the black fireface logo strengthens that first impression. If they want to portray themselves as a positive, trustworthy and friendly service then they have a lot of work to do. Because that “logo and site name” says I will take your software and sell it cheap to others without letting you know… www.e-junkie.com

PPCalc.com is a free online PayPal fee calculator. It allows anyone with a PayPal account to quickly and easily determine their PayPal fees before they accept money online. We also allow you to “reverse” calculate your fees to find out what amount a person should send you so that you actually get the amount you want after PayPal fees have been taken out, or what we like to call a Reverse PayPal Calculator. www.ppcalc.com

You upload the software to their server, get the HTML code and put it in your website and when people buy using this link the money will go to your PayPal account and a unique download link will be sent to their email to download the product. Pretty cool huh?

payloadzBasic Account is free, but it enables you to sell up to $100 per month only and you can upload up to 10MB of products only. That means if you are earning more than $100 on your products you need to upgrade your account to one of the premium accounts. Click on the image to see different levels of pricing.

PayPal’s “Deny Payment Button” Usable?

Too many times this Deny Payment button of PayPal made me almost click it. [screenshot]. I think it’s something to do with the positioning of the button, it’s like the ‘reset’ button in badly designed Contact Forms, lures you to click it without thinking. I am wondering if it is a bad usability on PayPal’s side (I believe so…) or is it just me? What do you think?

Please vote below. Only people with PayPal account and people who have used this feature are encouraged to participate.
