Flash countdown generator

New to this blog? See our Popular Posts section to get started, we have tons of great articles that can benefit you. Don't miss the upcoming interesting articles, subscribe to our RSS.

This countdown (see left) was generated by this online tool. You can set any date, you can also choose background and text colors. Finally you can give it a descriptive name (eg. new year).

Once you press generate code, it will give you a flash code. You can then paste this code into your website/blog. I have noticed that there is a small advertisement text below the countdown. In my case it was about “payday loans”. I have removed it. Otherwise, I think it’s a great looking countdown.

TapeFailure discontinues operations

TapeFailure.com that I blogged here is shutting down it’s operations. It was a nice online tool for usability and UI design testing. With this tool you could also track the behaviors of the users on your blog, since it can record people’s mouse movements and clicks in a video.

Email said:

Unfortunately, at the end of this month Tapefailure will be closing its doors. Why? Due to both lack of funding and a need to rebuild the system in a more stable manner.

The technology is definitely viable, but the current function of the Tapefailure system isn’t quite there yet. There are a number of things that need to be redeveloped and redesigned from the bottom-up.

During 2008, I will be working to rebuild Tapefailure with a stronger set of features, a new look, and a new name. I will also be looking to introduce even more innovative analytics methods in the new service.

I would like to thank all my customers for their continued support and patronage and I can only hope that you will join me again when the new service is launched.

Thank you,
Joshua Gross
Tapefailure Founder

Well, let’s hope Joshua comes up with an improved version of this service soon. Good luck Josh!

Free FeedBurner stats analyzer

Ray at BlogPerfume.com informed me that he has developed a nice free tool called Feed Analysis v1.0 that can analyze your feedburner stats in a more visually appealing manner (see screenshots below). It will allow you to view number of RSS subscribers, daily hits, views, clicks, stats for the days of the week etc.

In order to use this tool, first you need to export your FeedBurner stats as a CSV file (see screenshot below).

Then go to www.blogperfume.com/feed-analysis/ and upload your file and press Generate Report button (see below)

After that, you will be displayed your report on the same page with different graphs and charts similar to the ones shown above.

Clean file hosting service with no ads

Since www.UserInterfaceIcons.com launched about 42 hours ago, the icons have been downloaded 3,462 times, which consumed over 5GB bandwidth of mine.

So far, it has also been Digged 39 times, bookmarked in Delicious 399 times, and received over 9,200 unique visitors in less than 2 days. Obviously, I was happy that the project was a success. Thank you for everybody who have promoted UII! Especially to WebAppers.com, JohnTP.com, CSSjuice.com, and Neryx.com. They have sent tons of traffic.

Due to to the high traffic the site received for the past 2 day, I was looking for alternative ways for people to download the icons (in case I ran out of bandwidth). I was looking at various file hosting services, but most of them were full of ads. And too much ads is no good.

Only www.lobortis.com was with no ads (I mean no ads at all).

Here is other features of Lobortis:

  • 100% FREE (Max File Size: 5GB)
  • Unlimited downloads and uploads
  • 100 days availability after no download
  • By uploading, you agree to the terms of service

I have bookmarked the service, and if my bandwidth goes beyond the limit. I will definitely will be using it. I have also noted MediaFire’s Facebook application, which has less ads than the MediaFire pages. I might be using that too.

How about you? Do you know of any nice file hosting services?

BlogRush bans 10,000 blogs from its system

BlogRush had removed over 10,000 blogs from its system. This is one of the many measures that has been taken by Reese to make this struggling but promising project into success.

Previously it has been suffering very low click-through rates. People were reporting some 0.0XX click-through rates. (and some even 0.00917).

From Reese’s last post, this move should reflect in better click-through rates for all the blogs in the network in general, and it will also improve the quality of the blogs in the network. Because you won’t be seeing any posts from these 10,000 blogs anymore… and that means (hopefully) you will only see better posts in the widget (see top-left widget - are the posts good enough in the widget?).

Did you receive this email?

If you have received the following email, then your blog is one of the blogs that was not banned.

But if you didn’t… or if you got a different email, then don’t be upset. The good thing is that, you can re-apply for inclusion. Just login to your account and follow the instructions provided.

If your blog is banned then you will also notice that the widget won’t show on your blog anymore.

Will I be using the Widget?

I do not think I will be using the BlogRush widget just yet. Because some of the things I would like to see changed in BlogRush widgets have not been incorporated yet. Particularly, the look and feel customization and size customization options.

BlogRush ‘n’ you… so far

What is your opinion on BlogRush? Have you signed up for it? Have you passed the latest quality audit? If yes, are you more optimistic that you will get more clicks now? How BlogRush has been performing in general for your blog? Has your blog been banned? If yes, are you angry, upset…? Please share your thoughts…

Fauxto, online photo editing tool in flash

Fauxto is an online photo editing tool that is similar to Photoshop. Interface looks exactly the same, I hope they are not infringing any Adobe copyrights. Otherwise they will be in big trouble.

Other than that, it’s a cool application. It’s especially useful if you are out - using some PC that does not have Photoshop in it. You can use this online tool and still manage to edit your pics. (Of course the PC should have internet connection ;) Too bad the keyboard shortcuts do not work in this application.

Early this year Adobe announced that it will be launching online version of their Photoshop. I am not sure when they will announce it, and if it will be in flash environment.
