NetworkSolutions: View expired domains via RSS

New to this blog? See our Popular Posts section to get started, we have tons of great articles that can benefit you. Don't miss the upcoming interesting articles, subscribe to our RSS.

ns_rss.pngNetworkSolutions has introduced new feature to view expired domains via RSS. This tool allows you to generate an RSS link by specifying what keyword you are interested in the expired domain names. You can also specify the length of the domain name by restricting to certain number of characters. For example you can say do not show me domain names more than 12 characters.

After you have chosen your preferences and hit submit, it will generate you RSS link that you can subscribe. Upon subscription you will be notified of any new expired domain names that matches your criteria. Below is a test that I did, and it came up with 3 domain names. Should I register them? I will wait for a better domain name… ;)

Free online tool: test your blog in different browsers

browsershots.png

Browsershots is a free online tool that makes screenshots of your blog/site in different browsers. It’s a great tool to check if your blog shows up correctly on different browsers. It’s a bless for web designers who otherwise have to pay for paid services to check their designs on different browsers.

It is a free open-source online service created by Johann C. Rocholl. When you submit your web address, it will be added to the job queue. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server where you can view them.

It tests on three different Operating Systems (linux, windows and mac os) and on different browsers on these three os’s.

You can also choose preferences on screenshot size, color depth, javascript, java and flash (for the last three you can enable them or disable them or leave it as it is). check it out browsershots.org

Free Online Banner Creator Tool

bannerfansBannerFans is a cool Web2.0 banner creation tool that comes with lots of features. You can select predefined standard banner sizes or enter your own dimensions. It has a cool font selection window too. Other things that you can change are: shadows, effects and banner border styles.

It also allows you to upload your own backgrounds for your banners. And when you are done with your banner, you can either download it or just get the code. If you get the code, your banner will be uploaded to ImageShack.us (it creates myspace compatible codes too)

Basically, this is the tool that you need when you have internet but not Photoshop.

Free Web2.0 Online Scheduling Tool

schedule onceRemember the text based scheduling tool that I blogged here? This tool (look screenshot to the left) is a similar scheduling tool, but it’s more advanced, Web2.0 based tool that comes with all the dragging and real-time response functionalities.

Basically, it allows you to input few day (time) options into a calendar as seen in the screenshot, and send the link to your group members. Your group members can choose which day is ideal for them (and which days are not). In return, they can also suggest their own time preferences and leave comments.

Advantage of this tool over other tools is that, it allows you to set meetings internationally, across all time zones and daylight saving changes. Did I mention it was free? (but for how long?) www.scheduleonce.com

I am on twitter, finally

twitter adesblogI have joined the Twitter bandwagon too, which I was resisting for some time. Recent busy schedule of mine, which resulted in my blog being not updated for few days, prompted me to search for ways to keep my readers informed of what is going on in my life.

Well, first thing that came to my mind was Twitter, so I went ahead and got myself a twitter.com/adesblog. I don’t think I will be active twitter user though. But as I said, when the blog is not updated, you will be able to find the reasons there. I have just tested it through mobile posting (sms), and it went well. That means I can update it virtually from anywhere in the world (as long as there is reception and roaming).

You may subscribe to my twitter RSS here if you want to be notified of my new twitter entries.

How about you? Do you use Twitter? If yes, what can you tell about the service? What it is good for? What are the good and “not so good” things about the service? Any good tips you can share for effective usage of Twitter?

Popweblog - new site for rating blogs

Most probably you all know 45n5’s Top100 list right? It’s a list of Make Money Online blogs based on stats from Alexa, PR and Technorati. How you wanted RSS count to be included in the rating calculation right? But Mark of 45n5 have been rather slow in improving his toplist, and even the updates were taking quite some time lately. (once in 2 weeks?)

PopWeblog Top100

blog rating based on technorati alexa pagerank and rssPopWeblog is a new website that does the same thing as 45n5, rating Make Money Online blogs, but with RSS count included in the rating criteria.

It’s a cut-throat competition on the net, you miss something and do not improve the obvious. Someone else will come up with a better service that is better than your service.

While it’s still a new website (popweblog), I see that many of the top bloggers have already subscribed for the list. I think it’s the curiosity of “how will I rank against others with RSS count included” that makes them subscribe to this website.

Rusdy, the author of the website sent me an email about it. And I just had to sign up and see how my blog ranks.

Tip: Therefore, next time you develop a nice service, send an email directly to the bloggers, preferably to the influential bloggers. If your service is really good, I am sure at least 80% of them will use the service, and some will even promote it for free for you on their blogs (like i am doing now).

So check it out popweblog.com
