Advertisement Opportunities on AdesBlog

I have been getting emails regarding advertisement opportunities on this blog. I had included advertisement info on my about me page before. But I guess not everybody checks About Author page for advertisement information. Therefore I have decided to create a separate Advertisement Opportunities page, this page will include detailed info about advertisement options on AdesBlog.

Google algorithm update and its effects on search results

Google seems to be having algorithm update, and it’s affecting the search engine results. JohnChow has been affected with this update, now his site no longer appears on the first page for the search phrase “make money online”. He says he has slipped to page 4. Due to this phenomenon, he has stopped giving away free links indefinitely.

AdesBlog Competition
Good news is that AdesBlog will continue to give away free PR7 links. The algorithm update didn’t affect my blog particularly (but affected other projects). In fact, this competition is working very well. Now my color picker program is on the first page of Google, Yahoo, and MSN Live for the keyword “color picker“.

These results will definitely change as the days pass, but I hope they will change positively. If everything goes well and if Google won’t come up with another smart algorithm update, then hopefully my target is No.1 spot on all 3 Search Engines.

Before I started this competition, my program was on Page-12 on Google. So this kind of SEO strategy really works. If you haven’t already started similar program (getting links to your site with specific anchor text), you should do so as soon as possible. Because that will make you one step ahead of your competition. I also believe that if you do not rank high on search engines (if your blog is new), then you have nothing to loose. This algorithm update won’t affect you much. It affects the most who are already on top.

P2P Networks Hijacked for DDoS Attacks

Netcraft reports that Peer-to-peer networks are being hijacked to launch an increasing number of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks on web sites, according to security researchers and network service providers. In these attacks, large numbers of client computers running P2P software are tricked into requesting a file from the intended target of the DDoS, allowing the attacker to use the P2P network to overwhelm the target site with traffic.

These type of attacks began appearing on the Internet in early 2007 and have accelerated in recent weeks. As many as 100,000 machines had been used in some of the attacks.

So file sharers and torrenters out there, be careful these days! You might be attacking some site without even knowing that you have become a hacker ;)

Dell to Offer Ubuntu 7.04 (Official from Dell’s Blog)

As Arstan was saying that Dell is likely to offer Ubuntu (Linux OS) with their PCs. It’s now official that Dell will be offering Ubuntu with their select Desktop and Notebook products.

Dell’s official blog Direct2Dell has confirmed it.

As you might already know Dell has been struggling to find ways to sustain growth and profitability, because their once unique business model has successfully been replicated by its rivals like HP, who have already perfected the building of custom PCs.

I think it’s a very interesting move by Dell to offer Linux Operating Systems with its products. Let’s wait and see how it will reflect on Dell’s financial performance.
