AdesClrPicker 2.1 out soon

New to this blog? See our Popular Posts section to get started, we have tons of great articles that can benefit you. Don't miss the upcoming interesting articles, subscribe to our RSS.

I have been working on the new version of AdesClrPicker - my color picker software. The new version is going to be out soon.

Before its launch, I would like to give you some sneak peeks on the new features.

Floating Panel

Floating Panel (see image to the left) has been redesigned to include most used functions of the program. Previously it used to show the last 10 captured colors only. Now it has a lot more useful features on it. Floating Panel just sits on your screen, on top of all your windows. It’s small in dimension, so it can easily be positioned in any corner of your screen. If you do not want, you can always minimize it to taskbar.

Export Captured Colors as Image

New export feature has been added. Now you can export your captured colors as an image (jpg, gif or png) as well, in addition to Adobe Photoshop table export feature that it has. Exported images will have a colored box + color code. These images are useful if you want to share your colors with others. Instead of sending just the color codes, now people can actually send the colors together with the color codes.

This is how the exported image will look like (image + color code):

Change Preview Pane Size & Zoom Level

I have also added a new feature that allows you to change the preview pane and its zoom level. Some people suggested that they want to have a bigger zoom level. With new version that will be possible!

As you can see, a lot new exciting features are being added to the new version. But I can assure you that, even though it will have a lot of features it will still stay small and related. It won’t be another Photoshop or Swiss Knife Software. It will still be a nifty color picker tool as it is.

Price and Update

If you purchase now, you will get a free update when the new version is released. Price is still the same at $9.90 (normal price 19.90).

Darren VideoBlog: Who does your blog serve?

Darren Rowse of problogger.net started posting weekly video posts on his hugely popular blog. One of them is this video (see below), where he talks about the purpose of the blog, what kind of transformations it goes when it’s getting popular and what one should do in order to retain that growth.

For a while I thought he was just talking about JohnChow only ;) Well, as he says that’s the growth cycle of any blog. I hope that won’t be the case for me.

WDB Sold, Web2Bookmarks launched

web2bookmarks

I have sold WebDesignersBookmarks.com (PR6 site) to Manage Bytes for undisclosed amount. The sale had been finalized few months back, but we had the agreement that I keep the link under my “Networks Section” for some time, that is till now.

On the other hand, I had launched a new project called Web2.0 Bookmarks few weeks ago. This will be a site that will have coolest Web2.0 site collection under various categories.

The difference

Web2.0 Bookmarks will have only Web2.0 sites in the collection, whereas WDB had all kind of sites that are useful for Web-Designers. Target audience for Web2.0 Bookmarks will be broad, not only Web Designers. However it will be inclined towards Technology related sites.

Technorati glitch, all blogs rank no.1

When I checked my technorati page I was surprised to see that my blog ranked no.1, and it was in top100 (see above). Whatever the glitch in Technorati system, it made my day ;)

Then checking some other blog pages, I realized that it was happening to all blogs. Check your blog’s technorati stats, and be happy for a moment (till they fix it).

Cool Image Technology Coming

This is a new technology for viewing images and data, that is being developed (acquired in Feb, 2007) by Microsoft. It’s called Seadragon. Basically this software allows you to view large number of images and data, without slowing down your computer. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of images (think flickr), some of which are hundreds of megabytes or even gigabytes in size. The size of the image does not affect the PC performance, you can easily zoom in and out and view hundreds of images at the same time.

ACDSee and Google Picasa should start worrying now ;) Because when this will be out, it will change the way we interact with images. watch the demo here

Flipping blogs, would you sell your blog?

Six months old CareerRamblings.com has been sold for $20,000. Wow! Probably the new owner does not want people to know, that the blog has been sold and changed the owner. Because the auction page at SitePoint had been taken down, and there has been no statement about the sale on CareerRamblings itself.

I believe the previous authors of the blog, started the blog with the intention of selling it off at one point. Because six months is a very short time for any project, and anyone who wants to take the project to next level, will at least work on it few years.

My question is, do you blog because you want to flip your blog in the future? Or do you blog, because you love blogging? Or maybe you have your other reasons? Please share your thoughts on this.

P.S. Kumiko has more info on the CareerRamblings’ sale.
