TC Disrupt Beijing 2011 is around the corner, and Silicon Valley is Coming to Malaysia soon. Have you applied your product/startup for these conferences? I did… I have applied my Bloapp.com – free service that allows bloggers to convert their blogs into iPhone and Android apps in just 5 minutes. (yes android version is now live).

But the main question is – Does it worth to launch at these events?
Joel Spolsky has a long post on this subject, for TL,DR people (too long, didn’t read), he basically argues that if you have a decent product, then it’s worth to launch at these events. Otherwise it’s a waste of time for everybody.
As Openera posted on their blog, they didn’t have the expected results from TC Disrupt SF 2011 with their startup launch. It’s interesting to read. Make sure to read the comments section too.
How about you? Have you launched any of your products/startups at similar events? What was your experiences? Please share.

I haven’t launched my products at conferences yet. I’m still learning how to present them in order to generate sales. As a matter of fact, i hired a mentor to give me tips and train me how to present my products well.
Launching Products at a big event like this implies at least a 10.000€ cost in an european country. I don’t know if Malaysia is cheaper. It should be. But when you think of doing this kind of launches … you have to make the numbers. If 10k € is not much for your company then go ahead. but if it is, there is a lot that you can do with 10000 € in order to promote your product/service elsewhere.
For example a Banner Campaign the cost is somewhere around 2500€ and you get a lot more traffic than you get to an event like this
NOT always the banner with high cost can justify the money, therefore is better analyse offers, for this purpose what to choose the most attractive offer.

If the event is like TC Disrupt, I would definitely recommend launching the product in it.
