This is one of the simplest domain name auction websites I have ever seen. It shows 8 auctions everyday, thus the octopus theme.
It’s a new startup that puts simplicity as the core value of their business. Normally auction sites are huge and forum-like. One of the advantage of huge sites are that, you can come the next day and see the auctions that were posted prior to that. You can also browse all the auctions and find the domain name/website that you like.
So, let’s see how people will respond to such business model in the domain auction business. What is your thoughts on this website and its business model? Does Google’s simplicity model suits auction sites?

Personally it sounds like their limit of 8 auctions per day is more to do with lack of quality domains for sale on that site. I just don’t see this working as a long term business model.
The 8 auctions per day has many drawbacks. As a buyer it will become too competitive to buy any of the good domain names, especially if traffic picks up. It is also inconvenient having to check back for domains that match your interests/needs. A larger website with categories and many auctions seems to be a much better business model for domain auctions.
I’ve been using it for a while, it sure is pretty simple and straight forward…
A large selection of domains is a must for a long term business model
Thanks for sharing. It’ll be interesting to see how this business model works. I personally think “Less is More”, contradict to comments above.
I like the concept, I’d definitely be interested in checking into them further. The problem is that all of the big money is on these sites that just “list em all” and why wouldn’t it be? I’m not sure they can make a good stab at Flippa.com
The internet is fast running out of domains, and very soon one of the only ways to get domains is going to be via direct purchase and auction sites. Auctionpus is finely poised to become a real long term player in the world of internet real estate.
Limit of 8 auctions per day is less, i bookmark it and check it out daily auction.

It looks like it could be a good idea. I took a look at the site and it doesn’t seem to have sites that are that wanted. 8 does tend to give it less of return on time spent checking the site. Really not sure about this one.

hmmmm.anyone else notice that the keywords listed to the right of the domain dont always lineup? I’m probably going to withold judgement until they get a larger number of domains for sale. Also wish there was more organization for the domains, scrolling down a really long list just doesnt do it for me personally.
it could be a good idea, thanks for sharing :)
We shouldn’t judge them.. Let’s see how this site go in the long run.. Who knows people might like their idea..
