Great find! This is an extremely useful cheat sheet for anyone who is considering using social media sites to promote their website or business. I especially like the color coding.
I use Twitter mostly because it is the easiest to get a clear cut advantage in. Facebook I don’t use at all because it is too annoying to make a new account every time you want to promote something else — I use it for personal reasons and don’t want to merge work life and personal life.
Nice, neat presentation. The color coding helps a lot too. I’d definitely go with Facebook in light of the recent news that they surpassed Google in terms of hits. That is truly amazing.
Even as a social media consultant this chart does help a lot to distinguish where the best time is spent for different goals. Each customer is unique, and has different goals.
Some it’s just branding, some it’s traffic, some it’s seo. If I’d have to choose only two to focus on I’d recommend always utilizing facebook and twitter – facebook because of the sheer amount of traffic and viral ability, and twitter because of the ease of sharing.
Digg may prove a game changer though as well especially with the changes that it’s making, and youtube’s very good for branding. Even if a network doesn’t seem to have a lot of reason to pursue though, like you don’t see the value of using flickr the more diversity you can use in marketing via social media the more your brand will expand.
Personally I like twitter, Its helped me expose my brands quite well. Im interested in the SEO ability of flickr but its not easy for me as an Accountant to take interesting brand related pictures.
We did a comparison between Flickr and Photobucket for keyword relevancy and accuracy, what we found was that Photobucket was had lasting rankings longer, surprising I know.
This is a good reference, thanks for sharing. On linkedin, I have seen that it depends on your network size and engagement (groups, Q&A, Updates, etc.), probably could be similar for Facebook.
I’ve set up a campaign once again for my website and found Facebook the most. I got more than 1 K visits from facebook in just 2 days and got only 400 around from twitter. I proud to support facebook.
Social media is being exploited by us to our own advantage.
They being a great place to chat with your old friends and colleges have rather transformed to create leads and build up your business.
lnkedin and seo?? wow Im watching this first time.. but I wonder how its helpful for seo..
twitter is to boring..every where is bots at twitter , facebook is much better having more potential than any other media, im satisfied with that.. anyway its a good research base cheat sheet .. im saving it ;)
Nice one Ades! A picture tells a thousand words, and getting information dished up in a chart like manner such as this makes it so much easier to assimilate. Thanks for sharing, pal!
Nice chart but I think the best social media site is facebook. It’s the only one where you can get some traffic especially if you create a facebook group or page. I have tried all the others but none come close to facebook. The only major disadvantage is that it has no impact to your site’s SEO.
Oooh, this would be a great resource to print it out and passing it around at work. Everyone is still a little hesitant and don’t understand all the social networks – this gives a nice rundown.
This is an amazing cribsheet I had been trying to work out the pros and cons associated with the mind-numbing array of social media sites in an attempt to work out which one(s) I should start – this has made it a lot clearer.
I must admit agree that Facebook pages that I have created do not seem to appear on SERPS although Flickr pages do – so this collaborates the findings in the cheet sheet. I’ll definitely hand on to this one and direct people to it in the future.
Twitter can be great for SEO. Links are nofollow, but if story gets viral on Twitter, as happened to one of my last posts recently, it can result in some high authority bloggers link to it from their sites with regular, dofollow links.
Going by the chart it looks like Youtube and stumble upon are two of the best sites to use for all around benefits. I’m a visual learner so this is definitely going to be printed out and hung somewhere so I can see it when planning online marketing strategies. Thanks for the share Ades :o)
Cool one. It explains on the traffic and branding factor into your website well enough.
Very interesting to read, and quite informative. Thanks for sharing. I picked up quite a few pieces of useful information which I was not aware of.
Personally asking, which one works better for you? I would vote for FACEBOOK!

Thanks for the sheet Ades. I’ll print this sheet and put it on my table :)
I would vote for FACEBOOK!

Great presentation. Those who are new to Social Media Marketing and wondering which will work best for them must check this out.
I wouldn’t bother with social media sites for SEO. Great for branding but a waste of time when trying to build pagerank.

I find facebook more effective than any other social bookmarking websites.
That is one useful “cheatsheet”. I actually bookmarked (which is saying something). I’ll refer to it everyone now and again. Thanks for sharing!

Great cheat sheet. I have been reluctant to try some of these social media avenues as the results are so varied.

What types of channels would lead people to a social media activity?
I especially like the color coding. Thanks

This is fantastic! I’m going to print this and post it right next to my desk at work! Thanks a bunch!!!!!
Can Flickr REALLY help that much? I thought it was Nofollow?
I admit that I have yet to properly take advantage of social media in my marketing campaigns. This cheat sheet should help a lot. Thanks!
By the way, it’s been a while since your last post. Looking forward to more fresh content.
@Rent: That is very surprising indeed. Photobucket is pretty much the de facto image hosting service from what I can see in terms of popularity.
Till then,

I have this one posted at my wall office. Good presentation.
Promoting on twitter is definitely an art form, you have to follow a ton of people before you see some substantial traffic
Nice chart sheet of social media sites. It’s really helpful for identify which site is good for branding or visitor.
Good chart. It explains the things very well, otherwise would need a long post 2000 words :-)
This is interesting. I like how is was broken down. I will have to forward this to a couple friends. Interesting!
Thanks but no Thanks!!!
