This is quite incredible. Never really knew it could take this long to crack a password. So that’s why they tell you to keep changing your password periodically. Point taken.
Till then,
Jean
uhmm…where can we install this ades? thanks.
Time to change my passwords again!
Yeah safety first.. But yes where we can install it.
there was not any guide how to use that script :/
It sure is a nice tool to guage password strength, I like the fact that it gets expressed in amount of time it will take to crack the password, rather than just an indication of weak, stong, extra strong, etc.
Interesting stuff. I really need to check out my passwords with this tool. Thanks for this great share.
Very nice ! I’m going to use this to verify all my passwords … right now.
jQuery is the best thing to ever happen to web developers.
Plugins like this, and plugins that can do all sorts of neat visual tricks really make for a better Internet experience.
I just hate using it and knowing those with JS turned off won’t have full functionality.
I love jquery scripts

cool. I will try and download it.
Very interesting script. I would think that too many of our common passwords could be cracked quite quickly. This really shows just how long it would take. When it calculates the cracking time, I wonder if it takes into consideration that hackers would have many computers under the control to process the cracking script.
I’m the all time big fan of jquery. It works really great and makes development things more simpler.
That sounds like a pretty cool script. Hacker will find difficulty in hacking our password to access to our properties. Thanks for sharing the script Ades. heading over to the site to download it.
Cheers,
Lee

Great tool :) AutoScroll for jQuery AutoScroll for jQuery is a small jQuery plugin that allows for hotspot scrolling of web pages.
AutoScroll for jQuery is a small jQuery plugin that allows for hotspot scrolling of web pages. AutoScroll for jQuery is a small jQuery plugin that allows for hotspot scrolling of web pages. This plugin will work with pre-1.0 versions of jQuery. You define some rules for what you think is strong, medium and weak. Strong maybe has to include a capital letter, two numbers, and not include the user’s name. Medium requires capitals, but doesn’t have numbers.
cool. i like this!
An interesting option to check the possibility of using brute force on used password. Nice.

Thanks for sharing the script Ades
I don’t think anybody will ever be able to hack my passwords since I just use a program to generate them.
These days with the amount of passwords needed where ever you go on the internet a programme that will generate a secure password for you is a must (something like Roboform).
Using letmein, password, qwerty or 123456 all the time is asking for trouble.
How can I test the strength of my password protections on my computers?
nice script, im looking for this.
any guide how to use this on wp-admin ?
This is an excellent tip for measuring password strength.
.jQuery is a great tool for security purposes that can help surfers to secure their accounts in such manner that no one can hack their accounts.
I just tried to check my password and the demo script is not working. I think he must’ve been getting too much traffic to that page.
I love jquery scripts
Tnx for the article. I think i must verify all my passwords :-(
Pretty neat script to try out for fun, but I didn’t type my actual password… too afraid of that ;-)
Great sounding script although I’m always a bit nervous about this kind of thing – you never can be too sure what code has been added into the applet and whether someone is taking a note of your password for some nefarious activity. Be aware of Personal Security and don’t type your real password in – perhaps just a similar one.
That’s a very funny aspect of our passwords hehe
6 years and 5 months, that’s something that helps me sleep at night :-)
Trying to keep track of all these passwords is the suck. :(
I’m wondering if perhaps you knew just where I could obtain the XML feed for the web site.
