Here in South Africa we get AL Jazeera on DSTV, and I often watch the news. I like the unbiased reporting. It is great to live in a free country and to be able to see all the sides of a story. It makes being objective much easier.

Good sharing. It is common that everyone wants be their own boss after reading Robert Kiyosaki book. Some of my friend just dare enough to jump off the boat and do direct marketing after reading his book. For me, his book gave me some awareness on the financial situation that we live in today. I was motivated to write down my goals for financial freedom, but right now I was staying on my job and didn’t plan to go for business until the recession is over. Sounds a bit cautious isn’t it :D

So many people are scared of entrepreneurship when in actuality, it’s the best way to really be in control of your own future. School most definitely encourages people to be a good employee. Just look at how much emphasis colleges put on helping students find a job after college but hardly any on starting their own business. I hated this when I was in college. But on a lighter note, I think this is about to change and I think the recession is spurring it.

Well, thanks a lot. As you said in many countries people are trained be a good employee and not to become a successful entrepreneur. In my opinion the educational system has to be changed where people are given more visibility to what is happening around the world. A student must thought to think creatively rather in a narrow path. If such kind of educational system is adopted country can progress soon in the days to come. We need to wait and see if the educational system changes or not :)

A business person needs to know both the employee and employer side of a business. Shools focus on the basics first, so it seems consistent that schools focus first on the employee component, and students who are interested in the management/employer side have the option of a seeking an MBA or taking related courses in college.

You talk as if being a successful businessman is the better choice :p Some people don’t want to be their own boss, and prefer working. Kind of reminds me of a discussion we had in one of my university classes- when asked what the ideal position would be after graduation, most people said it would be having a stable job in a multinational company. And this was a management class, with people who were majoring in business administration :p
And besides, if everyone was trained to be their own boss, who would be the employees? :p

Having read his book, I wonder if he still offers all of the same advice as he did in his book at this time with the world market (especially Real Estate) being what it is… or, had he grown up in this market, would his advice be different… I think totally differently about investments now than I did 4 years ago

I’m a big fan of Robert Kiyosaki. He opened up my mind to the importance of financial literacy, which is never taught in our education system.
