Make Money With Non-Latin Domain Names
ICANN organization responsible for managing the assignment of domain names and IP addresses has approved a new plan to allow non-Latin characters in Web extensions. That means there will be a rush for domain name registrations for valuable keywords in Russian, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Greek and other languages soon.
According to some sources ICANN could start allowing registrations as early as next month. So, watch out for the day, you could make serious money if you can get hold of nice domain names.

Well, this looks like “once in a lifetime” opprotunity.
For instance, in my country there are lot of companies who would like to have nonlatin symbol in url, like hxxp://www. posušje-pršutana . com
It will be very interesting :-)

This will be a gold rush. Getting a unique domain name will be like getting gold. Unique domain names can be bought and sold later for a hefty amount. One must be choosing the niche properly.

was thinking, maybe it’ll take time before opening a chinese website because of it’s domain name. Nah, it’s just more flexible and it’s reaching more people now.

if you could get the IDN version of certain Chinese keywords you could retire just off one or two good one (insurance). Interesting to see where these ones show up once everything is settled.

The days of english dominating the internet world is gone for good. I think just the Chinese market alone will outdo the entire english one!
This is a great opportunity to explore new frontiers in the internet world, and there is definitely some money to be made here. I do think that speaking the native tongue and knowing the customs will be a huge advantage in identifying power keywords to use in URLS.
If you can’t, then employ somebody that does. You’ll end up making better, more informed choices.

This is a great opportunity, especially for those with knowledge of foreign languages.

This is an excellent opportunity for many people to pick up some top quality keywords in different languages. It will be interesting to see if search engines rank these in the “world” results for English keywords. Better grab Adesblog in all languages ;)

You can go out and register hxxp://www. posušje-pršutana . com right now, through any domain registrar that supports IDN’s. idnforums.com is a good place to find out which are the best ones to use.
International domains have been available in .com and .net for nearly 10 years now. They were just handicapped by non-support by Microsoft browsers. They’re supported by all modern browsers including IE7 and IE8. Hopefully the current hoo-har about IE6 security will see usage of that browser fall.
Continued usage of IE6 has limited uptake of IDN’s in China, Japan and Korea. Elsewhere, they are thriving, especially Russia due to high number of people using Opera browser.
The recent ICANN announcement related to IDN TLD’s. Russian will get an additional ccTLD in cyrillic script to run alongside their ASCII ccTLD .ru - Israel will get one in Hebrew, etc. Finally non-English (non ASCII) users won’t have to remember to switch their keyboard over to English when typing in domain names - they’ll simply type them into the navigation bar in their native script.
Once the IDN ccTLD’s launch, the existing gTLD’s (.com, .net, .org, .info etc) will be pushing ICANN hard for their equivalents in other scripts.
Don’t miss the boat.
