PayPal Accepts Ringgit Malaysia now
PayPal has moved one step closer to becoming fully functional in Malaysia by accepting transactions in Ringgit Malaysia (local currency) now. If you are Malaysian you can now send and receive paypal funds with other paypal users in Ringgit Malaysia (RM). see screenshot.
However, withdrawing to local bank accounts is still not possible at the moment. But it’s a positive sign that in the near future PayPal will be fully functional in Malaysia.
Currently Malaysians can only withdraw to Visa based Credit and Debit Cards from local banks.
PayPal has also updated the withdrawal fees accordingly in RM. It now costs RM20.00 for withdrawal to your Credit/Debit Cards. (see screenshot below)

On the other hand, it seems PayPal is still having difficulty translating the website interface into Bahasa Malaysia. Currently in the language options it shows Bahasa Indonesia only :)

Website: www dot paypal dot com (you better get used to typing the url in the browser! there are too many scams these days for paypal links)

I remember when I first used paypal years ago. I could never have foreseen that it would turn into such an international juggernaut. Back then I used it because I had no credit card, but these days they require it. I dunno if I like that!

It’s about time. Paypal is the leading online payment processor yet they continue to exclude several countries from joining the site.

I guess paypal has to be a bit strict with how they run their business since the potential for fraud is so great. I’m not justifying what they do, just offering a potential reason for their actions.
