Recently YouthSays, a community organizing platform for youths across Southeast Asia, did a survey with Jobstreet polling 3,217 youths in Malaysia between ages 15 to 35 on career related questions.
And here is some of the interesting results they have got.

See all results here (or in PDF here).
As you can see from the results above, current employees prefer flexible hours at work, wants gadgets as perks, and overwhelming majority of them believe in company loyalty. I think companies should note of this survey results so that they can understand their employees better.
What would you like from your companies? What is more important for you? Pleas leave your feedback in the comments section.

In the USA I think the results would be much different when it comes to loyalty to the employer. Sad to say but it is true. I have hired and also worked with many different people and I don’t see a whole lot of employee loyalty.
Youths now just loves slacking off. Maybe they just want to enjoy a little moment of their lives before getting serious to it.
Interesting results, I think the one about becoming a millionaire stood out to me the most!

One feature of a job that is difficult to find, that I always looked for, was compensation based on results. It was discouraging to make the same salary regardless of job performance and results. I wanted a job where outstanding performance and excellent results were compensated. And the compensation should be through an established formula, not the arbitrary favor of a boss. Eventually, I started my own business.
Interesting stuff. The youth of today seem pretty loyal.
I could almost guarantee the results in the UK would be different. People now EXPECT to get flexi-time, gym membership, xmas bonuses and a share save scheme!
The loyalty issue is incredible, considering we’re talking about the ADD generation here….heheheheh
Paying heed is something HR departments must really pay attention to. Intereting stuff!
Hey Ades,
This is a global perception of the youth, Employer’s responsibility matters most in this case and its not surprising that it got the highest votes.
In present scenario the employers consider there employees as an assets and this marks the major flaw in the management.
Hey Ades,
I should agree with most of the poll results. But I can’t do so. I would say the % of employees believing in company loyalty is hard to believe in the current tough time for retention. But I am definitely happy with the rest of the conclusions as they reflect the market needs very well.
It is a nice survey and I wanna that such survey should be in my country also.
nice survey.. but i dont agree with love my employer
interesting. I know they do a great job.
i love to try them and they give me many idea how to make money online.
As your question I am not interested for any type of office job. I get bore by daily schedule of office job. So I start my blogging life. I am enjoying my blogging life and I just want to improve my blog.
Hey Ades,
This is amazing that employer’s guarantee got maximum votes.
In the present scenario one this is quite clear that the employees want their creative space so that they can excel. And by being tied to the orders of the employers this is unachievable.
cool. They really different. :)
Perhaps the tough economic times we are facing in Seattle will have a positive effect on the value which today’s youth place on their jobs. Hey, I’m just trying to stay positive, haha
It’s interesting to see flexibility is the most sought after thing in a job. Flexibility really is what everyone wants these days. It’s a good thing.
It’s all about flexibility these days! People want it in every country!
Seems like youth can’t enjoy life anymore without the internet haha.
Whoa, those sure are some optimistic youth people if that many think they will have acquired a $1,000,000 by that age.

peoples opinion for perks changes as they get older. I know mine does.
I am too a full time worker. And all these online stuffs are just in my part time. I would request my company to give me flexi hours. That is., work in my own timing. If they give me such option I will definitely get the responsibility and deliver the work.
But I just wonder if they will ever consider this option :(
Interesting survey results. I agree that the results would be much different in North America. Hopefully employers take note of this data and work towards keeping their employees happy.
@Laptop Briefcases: You are lucky man. In Asian countries we hardly get this respect :(
