BigCommerce offers easy to use e-commerce platform for selling things online. If you were thinking of having online store with your own domain name, you should really consider BigCommerce.

Since my last post, I have been playing around with my store which is under their free plan. The free plan offers fully functional store with 20 products. Their cheapest paid plan starts from $24.95/month, which provides up to 100 products for your store and 3 staff logins.

But for a beginner, I believe 20 products is more than enough. If your store becomes successful, you can always upgrade to one of the paid versions later on.

Ease of Use

BigCommerce’s main objective and competitive strategy in business is providing usable and easy to use products and services. And so far, according to them it’s really paying off a lot (read here).

They should be commended for it, their hard work has really paid off, it’s easy to setup and customize your store in BigCommerce. Even if you do not know how to edit HTML, they provide innovative drag and drop customization options (see below). All you need to do is click and edit, and drag and drop.

Payment Gateways

BigCommerce is compatible with more than 50 payment gateways (eg; PayPal, Authorize, 2Checkout… etc) If you have accounts in multiple payment gateways, you can add them all to your account by simply ticking and providing account related information.

Summary

Personally, I think BigCommerce has done a great job. It’s one of the best e-commerce services on the net at the moment. Even though this is a sponsored review of their service, my recommendation of the service is unaffected by this sponsorship. That’s why in the first place, even before they approached me, I mentioned about BigCommerce in my previous post. Because I really thought it was a great service that my readers could benefit from. And probably BigCommerce people found my blog through that blog-post.

P.S So, the important thing to remember when blogging, don’t be afraid to mention and recommend other websites. You never know that they might become your advertisers in the future.

Does BigCommerce have their own products or do you sell whatever products you want? If you sell your own products, do I understand correctly that BigCommerce is basically a hosted shopping cart?

I have an e-commerce store planned 2 months down the line (if all goes as planned).

I will research more and give it a shot if it is what I am looking for.

    The initial looks are professional.

@baloot, they are the same company, this is their hosted paid service of their shopping cart.

@MA, you sell whatever you want on your store. Exactly, it’s a hosted shopping cart.

Big commerce seem to be a great place to be in . For long I was waiting for a website like ebay to list and sell products online. Ebay has become arrogant and taxing more. Big commerce is a website with lot of potential.

I like the idea that you can have up to 20 items for free. This will enable one to test the waters before taking the plunge. It is a great way to open up online trading to people who otherwise would not have tried it.

This is great service, you are right 20 products is pretty much for someone just starting. I must say I haven’t seen this number of payment gateways anywhere, which is great for international sellers.

Professionalism & simplicity are 2 helluva difficult qualities to merge. But from the looks of screenshots, BigCommerce seems to have done that. So its definitely worth a shot at MMO.

looks like a pretty slick system. For myself i think i’d rather just code up a quick database driven website in php and use something like zen cart rather than paying the monthly fee. But for people who don’t know php, this looks like a really easy to use system.

Since I a designer what I really like about BigCommerce is you don’t have to be a scripting guru. Scripting honestly scares that crap out of me.

Another important tidbit to through in about BigCommerce it was developed and integrated with SEO script that Aaron Wall (an seo guru of seobook) personally developed.
