Apple Products that failed
It seems that every product that Steve Jobs touches turns to gold right? iMacs, Macbooks, iPods, now iPhones… the guy is a genius!
But it seems not “every” product. Here is a list of 10 products by Apple that for one reason or another failed.
What this tells us? It tells that as a person and entrepreneur you should never stop growing, learning, launching new products and projects. Don’t be discouraged by the first fail, instead learn from it and do something new, better! Learn from Steve Jobs, have 10 failed products but have 5 killer ones.
Man… i have to do a new software, I am stuck with one Color Picker for how many years?! :)
P.S How many projects you have done and how many had failed?

Although this list seems to be a surprise for me, normal to consider that not all of the projects were a succes. Anyway as you said without failure you can not the sweetnes of the real win.

Great list. Many people fail but those who keep trying win in the end. I loved the hockey puck mistake, I remember those computers we had them at my high school. Really bad idea!

I have started many projects and I must say most of them have had some success. But a few have been very dreadful.

Does anyone know if Apple buys their own product back? I have a dead iPod Video. Will they buy it back? Of course the price will be smaller but still, do they do that? Or can I get like store credit?

I think most of those products failed because they were too advanced for the times, and the technology was behind the thinking. A new kind of PDA - now the iPhone, a portable Macbook - now the MacBook Air.
Innovative thinking is not a failure.

I haven’t even heard of most of these, I like the Pippin and it’s “3-year-old processor that loaded up games at an aggravatingly slow pace.” lol. Thanks for the list.

The hockey puck mouse is the one that is the most basic, fundamentally wrong design innovation from apple. The big factor that sunk a lot of the others was invariably cost. Their produsts are still priced way high in whatever marketplace they’re competing in.

It is sure good to see that even legendary brands like Apple has been less-than-successful with many of their projects. In fact, before the iPod and iPhone they had a distinctly wobbly period as a company overall.

The Apple TV is an interesting device. I wonder if it could be more effective and popular if it implemented some of the TiVo features.
