That’s one way to increase RSS subscribers
I was downloading some great web2.0 icons from WebDesignerDepot.com but was not able to proceed with my download until I had to join their RSS. I thought it was creative, even though I found it a bit forceful.
Here is how they have done. Download links were password protected, and they have placed the “password” in their RSS posts.

The password could only be seen at the end of every post on RSS feed (see below).

Actually, I didn’t mind signing up for their RSS because the blog is excellent. Therefore, I believe this tactic will work well on blogs that have good content and not so much on the blogs that have poor content. Because subscribing to good blogs is not a big deal for many users.
So, that’s one way to increase the RSS subscriber count.

Not bad tactic just to increase your subscriber. But don’t think is good to apply in blog to force your reader to subscribe it before reading content :p

Definitely a bit forceful but as you say, it can probably work for blog with really high quality content and you can always unsubscribe later. :)

It is refreshing to find blog posts on subjects other than growing your twitter followers. Things like RSS feeds are still important, although living in the shadow of twitter at present.

You raise a good point: this method will probably only work on blogs with good content. For other blogs, people will merely subscribe, get the code, and unsubscribe.

Assalamualaikum,
I believe this is work for just a blog with very special content. Even it little bit a push, but people don’t mine if they get a lot of great contents. This tactic won’t work for an ordinary blog :)
Thanks for sharing with us brother :)

It sure is a bit of a hard sell, but let’s face the fact that special offers are there to grow subscriber bases and the like. I think it is actually quite a cheap freebie if all that is required is to subscribe to an RSS feed.

Now this is a really new and original way of getting more rss subscribers. never thought of something like that. This explains their 19K rss subscribers.

this is one of the best practice to get more readers. you can say this as a link baiting trick to increase readers. But i will not use this method as we should not force people for subscription.
in this way you wont get regular reader group. let people decide whether they want to join or not.

Really a unique tactic and it obvious that if your content would be effective so subscriber will attract automatically.

Great tactic but didn’t you just give out the code in that image?

Seems like an underhand tactic to increase rss readers. If the content is good, people will subscribe.

The code changes every few days, so the code that you see above is obsolete already.

Pretty innovative strategy, I’ve seen more and more blogs do this. Although personally… I am not going to try this on my personal blog. I think it would be alot of work for me to do it, hehe.
Till then,
