MIT goes Open Source
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is one of the top academic institutions in the world. How about learning what MIT students are learning but for free?
MIT’s open source project called OpenCourseWare was setup to provide MIT’s lectures for free. Currently there are about 1,900 courses available on the portal. Lectures contain all the necessary files and some of the lectures include audio and video content. It will be like distance learning, you just sit at home and watch the lectures of MIT on your PC. If you are a good self-learner, you can benefit a lot from this portal.
I am particularly interested in the Sloan School of Managment section which covers topics like Management, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Strategy etc.
There are many other universities that have similar programs like MIT’s OCW; Yale, Berkeley, Tufts, Stanford etc. But I see that MIT has the most complete archive of their lectures online.
So, enjoy the free education!

What a brilliant resource. My friend is at MIT - now I can get an idea of what he’s learning there! I guess you can learn lots of things without ACTUALLY going to a learning institution - the wonders of the internet

This is a great resource. I also noticed in iTunes that there are a number of other top colleges that have made their lectures available for free download.

Finaly! Took them long enough. You’d expect an university like that to be more up to date on this stuff - open source can be as efficient as any commercial application without costing a penny.

This is a great idea, but don’t think you can get all the knowledge you would if you were a student of MIT, there is a lot to be said for how the lectures are given too.

This definitely is a great resource for students, and I can see some real value here for myself too. It is a pity that one still has to pay to write the exams though!
