My New Project - Malaysian Island Review
This is my new project MalaysianIslandReview.com. Idea for the project came when I was browsing the net for reviews of local islands prior to my trip to Redang Island.
The site will provide reviews of every island in Malaysia. The reviews will be written by those who have visited the island. The goal of the site is to provide as many reviews as possible to the user so that he/she can make an objective decision for his/her trip.
Plugin Used
I am using WPReviewSite for the rating management for this site. It’s a great plugin for setting up such websites. But the plugin has one huge drawback and that is - you can only create one set of rating criteria. That means if I setup rating criteria for the islands (water purity, beach quality etc), I cannot setup another set of criteria for the hotels for example (room quality, price etc). And that is a big drawback, because most of the sites won’t be only about one thing, they will have sub-categories that will need different rating criteria. Just wanted to point that out in case you are going to invest $97 for this plugin and expect to have additional rating criteria.
Request
I am sure the local readers of my blog have visited many islands in Malaysia. I would like to ask them to rate and write a review on MIR. Also please let your friends know about the site too. Thanks in advance.
For the people of other countries who haven’t visited Malaysia but would like to one day, don’t forget to check back MIR before your holiday!

Your site looks brilliant. You have so many projects on the go at one time, I don’t know how you manage it. I think the site will be really useful to those wanting to visit the Malasyian Islands.. If I was going I would definately take a look. When people give honest reviews, it really does help

I have started quite a few websites because I couldn’t find one that had all the info I wanted all at once. They usually end up becoming pretty popular since there are other people who had the same problem! Best of luck with the new site!

The Malaysian Islands are truly aspirational holiday destinations, and you spotted a great little niche here by the looks of it.
Maybe one day I will also be able to have an exotic island holiday in paradise. Best of luck with your new project, may iot be a great success.

That’s nice.
Where did you get the site designed? expensive?

I think its a very good initiative as people who are interested in traveling to the island can benefit hugely from this resource.

I find this to be a great project based on the fact that I am currently looking into Malaysia as I place I might want to move to because of the weather and the cost of living.
Because of this I have also found that the information available online is very limited so I am sure that you’ll have great success with this site.

Well done on your new project. The site looks great and I’m sure it will be very successful.

Do you think you’re competent enough to review them? I’m not questioning it, just asking. Because whenever I read a review I first check the author’s credentials, otherwise I might end up wasting time on a review wrote by some 14 year old or something.

I went to have a little look, and have come away suitably impressed. It looks really good, and I am sure you’ll work hard to get much traffic to this site. best of luck with your new effort here!

Thank you everyone for your comments and encouragement. I hope it will take off and become a leading website in its niche.
@Mikael, Malaysian Government has a program called “Malaysia My Second Home” http://www.mm2h.gov.my for those who want to retire in Malaysia. You might want to look at it.

@Ades, I think the site is down right now but I definitely will have a look at it. What I’ve found so far is that you’ll have to have about $100,000 to place on a (no to be touched) bank account in order to get on the 10 year visa for retirees.

@Mikael, yes it’s something like that, on top of that you should have monthly income of RM10,000 (about $2,800).
@Hurtownia Tkanin, I am not the one who will review the islands, it’s the tourists who have visited the islands will write a review. I just provide the platform.
