Idea Realization is a Challenge
Regarding my previous post about making money with Windows 7, yes it’s true that many people are now wanting to seize the opportunity and hoping to make money out of it. But it’s equally true that very few people will actually act on their ideas. Out of all the people who want to create a website about Windows 7, most probably only 5-10% will act on their ideas. And probably even fewer people will actually follow through and finish their projects successfully.
So, most ideas will be left as they are - in the form of ideas only. Some people might act on their ideas and pick a good domain name and register it, but won’t have the will to follow through and setup a website. Some people might setup a website but the outcome (design or the content) might not be as good as it supposed to be in order to be successful. And yet, some people might launch a great website but fail in their SEO and online marketing just to find out that other less great websites had beaten them because of that… etc etc
So, my advice is - if you are confident that you can launch a decent website about Windows 7, do the proper SEO and market it online successfully then you better don’t give up on that idea of yours! Because I am sure you have a pretty good chance of succeeding in it!
How do I know it? For the same reasons that I have mentioned above - that most of the people will not act on their ideas and even if they act many of them will not follow through until the end. As for the ones who complete their projects - “no one is perfect” - I am sure you will find a way to beat them, be it in the quality of the content, design, SEO, marketing etc. There is always a way to beat the competitors.
So the challenge here is:
- Acting on your idea.
- Following through with it until the end (i.e don’t quit half way).
- Do the necessary adjustments to outperform your competitors.
Sounds like a plan? Then let’s get busy with our new project!

Yes, it’s true. Promoting something is not about setting up a website and everything is done. Is all about choosing a right domain, marketing it and so on. And without marketing, there will be no sell. So, marketing, marketing, and marketing…

Great point. After an invention becomes popular, many people have said “I thought of that.” But the reward goes to the person who implements the idea.

But the question is wether you have enough money to invest, and if you can afford to lose that money if your idea doesn’t work out

Following on your earlier contribution this post about following thru on your ideas is very important and relevant. A good idea needs loads of hard work to implement it, and it ain’t always easy to keep on following through, as numerous factors, from cash flow through to available time influences the final outcome.

So true. I thought about implementing a Web Dictionary using a word cloud, but did nothing about it until it was too late. There is now a very popular site that does exactly this!

Are there any money in those niches at all? I know that there is a lot of traffic but I’m not sure I can see where the money is made?

This post really hit home with me. It’s very true that very few people ever act on their ideas and/or follow through to the end. This has been my own personal experience, and it’s been my biggest obstacle to online success.

But still there can only be so many people making money off of it. If you try and succeed you’ll earn a lot. But the possibility of failure is pretty high.

“Out of all the people who want to create a website about Windows 7, most probably only 5-10% will act on their ideas.” I feel I fit into the category that gets distracted or discouraged before I finish the project and that simply will not do. I need to stay focused and finish what I start.
