Ever since I uninstalled Adobe Acrobat 8 from my PC, every time I wanted to right click on any file or folder, I have been getting this pop-up window below (see screenshot).

.
The reason for this problem was because when you uninstall Adobe Acrobat, it doesn’t fully uninstalls itself; usually there will be some registry entries, broken files, empty folders… etc left on your PC. In order to solve the problem, you have to remove these files and registry entries manually as recommended by Adobe themselves here. But that’s a long, hassle way to do it. I needed a “one-click” solution if possible ;)

Solution
Windows Installer CleanUp Utility did the trick for me. After I installed this tool, I was able to see the Adobe Acrobat in the list and successfully removed it with one click.

.
Windows Installer CleanUp is a utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer.

P.S The reason i am posting about this tool is because it was quite difficult to find a solution on the net. Most of the articles pointed to manual removal of Adobe Acrobat files. So I thought this might benefit people who are having trouble with uninstalling Adobe products.
Note: This tool can be used to remove any other program as well; that experienced half-way installation or not completely removed…etc. So, it’s not a tool to only remove Adobe Acrobat.

Thanks for this post. You’re right, this information is hard to find! I had to use the cleanup tool for another program recently. I wish I’d seen your post then – it took me ages to work out what I was looking for. I’m sure it will help someone else by you posting it here.
i also ever had problem like this
thanks for remembering me.
Thanks.I have been searching for this information as well.I run Windows Vista and when upgrading acrobat it wen´t bad.So, I must uninstall it and re-install again.
Thank you for the help… :)
Usually Adobe leaves a lot behind when you uninstall it. This is great if it really does the trick of uninstalling it.
Eurgh, I know what you mean, Adobe leaves files all over the place.
Nice Post. Thanks For Sharing the Solution. I have Also Uninstall The Adobe. I tried Many Times.
Thanks, their update thingy bothered me soo much.
Can’t believe I stumbled across this post. I have 2 Vista boxes at home and have been having trouble re-installing acrobat. I should just get rid of Vista instead…
I hate getting that pop up. I never knew how to get rid of it before. thanks for the info!
Haven’t tried the software yet, but if what you say is true then I will have found a solution to a problem that has bugged me for years!
Many thanks,
Nick
A Very BIG thanks you for your post. I am facing the same problem for the past few days. Lucky I found your post and it really help me up. Now my problem solved and my headache has gone.
Thanks you.
You are welcome!
Thank you so much. I had been fighting an old adobe with pieces laying around, downloaded and ran one program that wanted me to pay before it would finish.
Then I found your post and i was done in no time.
Thanks so much.
You are welcome Tony!
Thank you very much!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! UR A LIFE SAVER! i kept trying to get rid of it the annoying bitch of a thing
I went to PerfectUninstaller from the ad on your site and was able to download the free demo version. It went through all the steps to uninstall but for it to actually do the uninstall I had to buy the product, never having seen if it could do what it said. I suggest that you remove the ad until they actually do a complete demo before expecting me to purchase their product. Your advice on Microsoft Uninstaller was great. Thank you
Hi Ian,
I believe you have clicked on one of the Google AdSense ads? Those are dynamically generated ads related to the content of the page. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Actually for this same reason I have resisted putting ads inside the content. At the moment all the ads are outside the blog post.
I am glad that my post could be of help.
Thanks.
Thank you kindly.. I have tried all sorts of proposed solutions. This was by far the easiest, fastest, and cheapest.
Thanks again!

Thank you! That did the trick. I was going to call it quits and reinstall the OS from scratch. I found your article and it backed out a corrupt installation of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional stuck in some strange voodoo limbo land.
Thank you for fixing my computer.
This is exactly what I need… but when I went to install it, I got this error:
Error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one.
Nothing else is “in progress,” verified by the fact that nothing else is open in the Windows Task Manager…?
If it works, you are my god!
I started to use the Windows Installer Cleanup but see that Microsoft retired it in July 2010. Any other suggestions? I’m a little afraid to use it at this point.
TONS OF THANKS, IT WORK FOR ME 100%,GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS FOR RENDERING A HELPING HAND TO YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEING
Thanks so much, was a great help!
