Do you want to be given option whether to “save”, “view” or “open” PDF files when you click on the links? The following plugin (PDF Download) will do exactly that, it will restrict browser’s default action (usually opening pdf files inside your browser) and instead will give you set of other options to choose from. (see screenshot below)

Why do you need this plugin? Sometimes, if the PDF file that you want to view is large in size, opening them directly inside your browser can crash the browser. Thus resulting in information loss. With this plugin you can prevent that from happening.

The latest version of the plugin also has a new feature to convert any webpage-to-PDF.

Plugin URL: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/636
Plugin Site: www.pdfdownload.org

Thank you for getting my attention to that add-on. I normally just get irritated but never really spend time looking for add-ons that would make my life easier. The add-on has been installed so one less problem to deal with.

As you probably know, you can disable viewing PDF files in FireFox by changing the file associations within FireFox (Tools > Options > Applications). Then FireFox will download the PDF file instead of viewing it.

Of course, this plugin is even better than my method because the plugin gives you the choice for each PDF you click on.
