Portable FastStone Capture

Posted in » Blogging Tips, Software - by Ades on December 11th, 2008

I’m a big fan of FastStone screen capture application (see left). All the screenshots on this blog are captured and annotated by this application. It’s small, fast and very useful tool for bloggers.

There is now a portable version of this program, which is generated from the freeware version v5.3.

All the newer versions are now shareware. Current version is 6.3 and costs $19.95. New version of course has many additional features.

But, for blogging purposes, freeware version is more than enough. And with this little portable version (1.3MB), you can put it on your thumb drive and be ready to blog anywhere, even in places like public libraries where you can’t install any softwares.

In fact, I am in such place at the moment, in the University Lab ;) thus the idea for portable app!

Enjoy!

I used to use SnagIt until I uninstalled it for some reason. Now I just use the default “prt sc” button and FireBug to take screenshot of my brower.

It’s hard to believe such a light-weight application could be so powerful. This is excellent. I’ve been wanting something like this. Most screen capture software I’ve seen is bloated and requires a lot of memory, slowing my laptop. Thanks again for the great tip!
