Revolution Two themes, where is the download links?

Posted in » Usability, WP Themes - by Ades on November 14th, 2008

I talked to few people about Revolution Two themes going open source and everyone I talked to said they couldn’t find the download links. Some people were not able to find the download links even after several visits to the site. So, where are the links?

They are there, it’s just that they are little bit hidden (at the bottom of the page) and in small text size (see below):

I know Brian is trying to push paid support service, but I think it’s confusing too many people.

Update: It’s confirmed that the themes are no longer open source, therefore the download links are no longer available. Unfortunately now if you want the themes you need to buy them.

    Hi Ades,

This things happen to me to…

I found the link just after the 3rd try…

And there is no support and guide for this theme..

If you’re are a newbie, its will be more difficult to manage the theme…

Many people does not look at footer part, because what they believe it would be just navigational links what they had seen in uper navigation bar. Now people won’t look any where and will click on only download link.

I agree with Kitchen Aid Mixer, not may people look at the footer because it is normally just a navigation bar.

Wordpress is just getting bigger and bigger. More open source offerings like this can only make our favourite blogging platform all that more versatile and powerful, to everybody’s benefit!

true the download links are missing, however he didn’t mention anything on his blog. maybe he wants to make it paid again, who knows.

Yeah, he removed the download links.

Guess that open source idea didn’t pan out $$$ wise.

[edited] Gardner created hype saying that they are open source and free. Then, everyone applauded him and praised him. Lot of people wrote about this in their blog giving him free advertisement. First, he started putting the links in a small font near the footer, which are almost invisible. Then, he removed the links and whoever purchases the support package will only get the theme. Now, nowhere you can find the free or open source words in his site.

Read here people abusing him: http://ma.tt/2008/10/theme-revolution/

People must not use their themes and kick these type of bastards out.
