twitter_suspended.pngInteresting developments happening over at my twitter account. It has been suspended! My friend Arstan notified me about it so I went to check it out for myself.

Indeed, it was suspended. Can you guess what was the reason? Apparently I am antisocial. Yes, that’s right! (see screenshot below).

I must admit, I had neglected (wasn’t updating) my twitter account lately. And I am guessing this plugin that I use on my blog to auto-post my blog posts on my twitter account didn’t help the situation either.

Let’s see what will happen next… I have already contacted them and asked them to restore my account. I said “I will be a social geek after this” ;) But I don’t think they will buy that.

Have anyone of you had a similar experience? Your twitter account being suspended?

another reason not to use those plugins. It just doesn’t make any sense to post updates in your twitter, does it? I mean, why would anyone do that? Not me.

Well, create a new account, simple as that but the down side is you lost a few contacts along the way.

Guess they will be suspending mine as well. LOL

Will have to wait and see what happens there.
Better yet mayhap I had best go see if I am still there

Is it such a great loss?? Did you get loads of visitors via Twitter?

I know I haven’t had any visitors via Twitter so not such a great loss

This is very interesting. To be labeled as anti-social in a social networking website.

I have always been antisocial. I never signed up for twitter! It may be of interest to you and other readers of your blog to visit this site and read this very interesting article:http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/07/magazine/07awareness-t.html?ei=5124&en=b87f67f56fa2fbe2&ex=1378440000&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink&pagewanted=all

The very idea of sitting in front of the computer at home all day socializing, is, in fact antisocial- you can’t win my friend!

rummuser, that was an interesting article. web applications are really re-defining people’s lives, how they behave and their relationship with each other. it will never be the same again.

Unlucky mate but this is very interesting.
How can you be anti-social when you are on a social site?

That’s interesting - I had just been cleaning up my twitter account and noticed several people who were following me had their accounts suspended. I wasn’t one of them but I want to keep it that way! I also started updating my twitter more often with real “social” posts and not just blog posts. I think the blog posts are okay if they are not overdone or out of proportion to the rest. I do find it useful to see when people have posted.

I believe the point is to utilize it per the true and original purpose of social networking. That’s what they want, and I understand that.

Notice that yesterday, since no update from you, I went to check your account and surprise to see you suspended. Interesting though how they measure people to be anti-social in a social site. Never had an experience like this before

Your post really amused me! You were banned from a social networking site for not being social enough! That’s some story! Love that you showed us how Twitter singled you out for your “strange activity”! FYI, I posted something on my new Get Your Fill Now Blog. Guess I better go tweet now!
