google_chrome.jpgGoogle Chrome is a new open source web browser from Google. It’s in beta and available only for Windows based machines at the moment. Mac and Linux version are underway.

Google says: Under the hood, we were able to build the foundation of a browser that runs today’s complex web applications much better . By keeping each tab in an isolated “sandbox”, we were able to prevent one tab from crashing another and provide improved protection from rogue sites. We improved speed and responsiveness across the board. We also built V8, a more powerful JavaScript engine, to power the next generation of web applications that aren’t even possible in today’s browsers.

Since it uses components from Mozilla’s Firefox (and Apple’s WebKit), at times you will think you are using a firefox browser with a different skin. They have kept all the latest browsing standards and have improved some functions like bookmarking, searching, tabbing, security etc. to make them more usable.

P.S Google search is activated directly in the URL field. So just type and press enter to search anything in Google. One less step to do the search on Google with this browser :)

Seems like you have started using it Ades. How do you ‘feel’ about this one compared to Firefox?

I just download it, and it seems to be very easy and user friendly browser. Hence it will be an issue that how much and which types of plugins it supports. Well let’s see how much it will be going to have success.

I have used many browsers but found Mozilla the best. i’m excited about Chrome installing right now.

Yup. It seem everyone talk about it now.
I’m gonna try this too. ;)

Installed Google Chrome. To me Chrome is pretty good. Fast and easy to use. It has some issues like new tabs open between the tab you have open and the closest tab rather than putting new tabs at the end, makes it very confusing.

I have tried it, but it’s still looks like a baby in front of IE and Firefox.

I am in love with Google Chrome, its different but I would say it is better than firefox and way way way much better than IE

Well I have downloaded and installed it. I tried it out on a few sites and I’m very much impressed with the V8 engine it has, it is much faster than any other borwser out there. It’s like a super turbocharged browser. It makes surfing a breeze, plus I love its simplicity. So far I’m impressed.

Downloaded it as we all have got to try it out, I really like FF though. Think will take quite a bit to switch me even though I am a Google man.

A few things about chrome. I’ve heard that microsoft IE is trying to come out with a feature that would allow users to completely block ads. Could you imagine how that would hurt google, no adsense, ahhhh? So it seems that google is trying to get their foot in the web browser door, to maybe combat this trend. Secondly, what better way to track surfing trends and popular sites, than with a browser? It seems that google might be making a power move to make their search engine even more refined. Until the kinks get worked out, I don’t think I’ll even try it.

I think it’s a great browser, but my FF3 has many useful plugins that Google Chrome doesn’t. So, until Chrome has similar plugins, I don’t think I will be shifting completely.

    - Anthony, that’s a good point. I think it’s a serious enough threat for Google to come up with its own browser. Because IE still has more than 70% of the browsers usage share. And if IE will have the feature to block ads (maybe non MSN ads ;), then Google will loose millions…

Google Chrome is a good browser with new features like incognito mode & multithreading. but it lacks additional plugins which are very useful in Firefox

  15. By PS3 on Sep 5, 2008

I agree, the plugins are what sets Firefox apart from the rest. Does Google have any plans to allow plugins on Chrome?

  16. By Internet SEO on Sep 5, 2008

I agree all round here, Firefox just has too many goodies, I downloaded Chrome but have not played with it properly.

Hm, looks very fancy. I’m a creature of habit so I doubt I’ll download until I am forced too… but it looks cool.

Difficult to use at times, i can’t get onto hotmail properly for some reason. Otherwise quite nice.
Like the design, and various other decent features.

I think it will take a lot time to be competitor of IE, non SEO users generally uses IE more and FF3 is very famous in webmasters. No doubt google chorme is very fast for surfing the web, still sometimes i found it’s being hanged.
