listmessenger.jpgTalking about Email List, here is a free script to start your own mailing list.

It used to be my favorite newsletter script back in 2003. I used to use ListMessenger 0.9.4 then, current version is 2.1. Why I stopped using it? Well, as it usually happens… because the later versions became paid. But now checking back their site, I see that they have made it free again. However, there is a paid version too. The main difference is that with free version you can have maximum of 200 subscribers only. Which is plenty of subscribers for those who are newly building their mailing list.

They also assure a smooth transition to Pro Version if your subscribers exceed 200. Pro version costs one time fee of $47.31, which is very affordable considering that you will get all the future updates for free.

So, ready to build your mailing list? ;)

P.S I tried to use aweber but it was too costly, I had to discontinue after few months. I think for building a mailing list from scratch, free scripts like listmessenger is ideal. I will give another try for listmessenger.

47.31? Seems like an odd amount to charge something. LOL Sounds like an interesting package.

    Hi Ades,

Thanks for sharing this, this is what I’ve been looking for this whole month…

-RiceBlogger, I see that they have an auto-responder feature for the new subscribers, and the ones who unsubscribe (goodbye message). Other than that I don’t it can work as an auto-responder.

Spam is always an issue, if any of your newsletter subscribers report your domain as spam, most of the emails like gmail and yahoo will put all messages to spam folder.

-Eva White, it’s not a messenger, it’s a newsletter script.

-ipod repair, that’s the price when it’s converted from canadian dollars ;) their original price is in CAD

    -shawal, you are welcome!

Great! I was thinking of using Aweber if not for its cost which I agree with you and ListMessenger looks like a nice alternative.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Hi,

ListMessenger Light (and the paid version ListMessenger Pro) are indeed very nice options for sending e-mail newsletters to your subscribers.

As soon as you start sending larger volumes of e-mail, it turns out the real costs are not in the software itself, but the hardware infrastructure required. It’s actually a rather complicated matter. We at ListMessenger.net offer an option to send e-mail newsletter from our hosted service. You pay a subscription, you send your newsletters using the very same software that you can download and buy on ListMessenger.com and we take care of the rest. We’ve been running this service since 2003 and work closely with the Matt Simpson, the developer of the software.

I’d love to hear what you think about this subject, i.e. the real costs of sending large volume e-mail newsletters.
