scour.pngScour is a search engine that pays you for doing search. It’s not a new search engine, rather it displays the results of three major search engines; Google, MSN and Yahoo.

It allows you to vote and comment on search results too. So it’s a search engine with social bookmarking flavor. That means if enough “thumbs up” votes are collected, the result can climb up the position.

Every member is awarded one point for every search, two for a vote and three for a comment with a maximum of 4 points a search. Once you aggregate at least 6,500 points you can cash them out for a $25 Visa gift card. On top of that, it offers referral points for the friends you introduce to Scour where you can earn 25% of the points they make. Not bad huh? I am not sure it will stick with the community though. http://scour.com

I do join it when I receive your email notifying me of Scour.com but I’m still clueless about the point system but your article kind of clear up certain things.

Sharing the same sentiment, I’m not too sure if I would be actively using it. $25 for 6500 search results? That’s quiet a lot of search.

On average I do 10 search on Google daily and with this kind rate, I’ll be cashing out in 2 years.

You are right, if you do not have any referrals I think it will take very long time to get your first payment.

The thing is when I clicked on the link given by you, I didn’t see any referral id or something and how did they know if I’m referred by you? Perhaps I’ve missed it altogether..

Anyway, when time permits, I’ll explore further on it.

I would rather just sticking to Google, much more simpler!

The idea of paying you to search seems like a good one but gaining 6500 search points will take some time to receive.

It looks like they are trying something different to try and match google.

    Nice article.
