BloggingBoost.com - get free domain name and hosting
Regular readers of AdesBlog know Alan Johnson very well by now. He is the regular contributor to this blog and author of some of the best articles in the blogosphere.
BloggingBoost.com is a new project by Alan offering free domain name and hosting for promising bloggers. Obviously this free service is for serious bloggers or “to-be-bloggers” only. The requirement is that you need to be able to write good articles, at least 5 articles per week (without grammar errors).
I think he has done a wise decision by putting a high requirement. Because if you make it free, there will be a lot of free riders who after getting the domain name and hosting won’t even blog a single post on their blog. Remember my free domain name and hosting contest? Well, most of the winners are to this day didn’t work on their blog. I guess that’s the general attitude for “free stuff”.
So if you are serious, and do not have the means to get your own domain name and hosting, then check out www.bloggingboost.com

Thanks for blogging about my new project Ades, this is definitely an opportunity worth taking advantage of and, as you have mentioned, people who are serious about becoming bloggers yet don’t have a budget can get started at no cost.
A free domain name, a great theme (thanks again Ades for your contribution :) ) which makes everything as user-friendly as it gets (it only takes a few clicks to add rotating sidebar banners, AdSense blocks or banners before, in the middle or at the end of each blog post) and extremely powerful hosting (I encourage bloggers to generate as much traffic as possible and don’t kick them out as soon as their blog becomes popular like all sorts of free hosts or even shared hosting providers do - resources which are easily worth mid $xx per month will be at their disposal).
All in all: if you are serious about maximizing results as a blogger but don’t have a budget, I will gladly help you get started at no cost.
Best wishes,
Alan Johnson

That’s a great idea. Why is he doing it though, will he be earning all the profit from ads on those blogs?
By Forumistan on May 16, 2008
Thanks for this, I am looking around for hosting.
By StockTube on May 16, 2008
what would happen to the rights of the article posted? will alan own the articles’ right in a way that he could reproduce it elsewhere etc?
just curious …
By Ramana Rajgopaul on May 16, 2008
I think that what the two of you together are trying here is praiseworthy. I however think that Alan is being too rigid. I would like to be proved wrong but, I doubt that there will be many bloggers willing to go through that tough requirements.
By Dining Tables on May 16, 2008
I am sure that the idea is good and there is likely to be good response to the offer. While the requirement seems high, for serious bloggers looking for a break it should not be difficult. It would be nice to know the outcome of the offer.

Hi there and thanks for your comments:
StockTube - you will own the rights to all of the articles you post on your blog and I will own the rights to the articles you send me as a part of our agreement (the 10 initial articles you send and the 5 weekly ones)
Ramana Rajgopaul - this needs to be done in order to make sure that only people who are serious about being bloggers apply. Again, this is an offer which helps people who are not afraid of work, yet don’t have a budget get started.
Dining Tables - this is definitely a win-win agreement which helps people who are serious about becoming bloggers start out. The bloggers in question will receive absolutely everything they need in order to get started (from their domain name to a fully functional / user-friendly blog and extremely powerful hosting) at no cost and that is indeed a package most bloggers cannot initially afford.
Best wishes,
Alan Johnson

The reward for effort system is much more efective than the free system. Thanks for showing the way, and offering a free vehicle for individuals who have the talent but not necessarily the resources. This project is worthwhile watching.

That’s is why Ades you should pick me as a winner if you have any others free hosting contest cause i am a serious newbie blogger….
I quit my job to join the blogosphere….
Any free hosting????

David Marx - thanks for your comment David, glad you like the concept.
shawal - if you are serious about blogging, all you need to do is visit the BloggingBoost website, write the 10 initial articles, send them via email and I will set everything up for you asap.
Best wishes,
Alan Johnson

Why is Alan avoiding Stak Loaded’s question? You answered everyone else’s. How do you plan on making money from this Alan? It’s a very important question that needs to be answered as i would like to know how many of your ads to expect on my blog.
By Alan Johnson on May 19, 2008
Larry - the comments made by Stak Loaded and Forumistan went into moderation and were only approved after I have posted mine, that’s why I didn’t see them.
You don’t have to display any ads on your website and get to keep 100% of the revenue. The only thing you need to to in exchange for everything is send me 5 articles each week, it’s as simple as that :)
Best wishes,
Alan Johnson

Sound concept, one way of ensuring people actually use the free resources made available to them.

Getting free domain and free hosting for blogging is very cool.
By Lisbei on May 20, 2008
I agree with Television. Getting a free domain and hosting is cool. I think Alan Johnson is generous enough to give these to those who are really serious in blogging but cannot afford to pay for domain and hosting. This is just a give and take relationship, besides giving you free domain and hosting, you get to keep the revenue; in return you just send him articles each week. A fair deal, don’t you think so?
By Recliners on May 21, 2008
Thanks for the information and i dont think that the prerequisites are at all unreasonable. If you are a serious blogger you will have at least that much material to publish per week and surely anyone who is serious about blogging can take the effort to see that no grammatical errors creep in.

That’s simply awesome! Thanks for boosting up new bloggers!!

i think the requirement to get a free hosting is to much. making 5 articles per week and it should be grammatically error free. but this would be a great challenge for those in to blogging. this post just great thanks…
