Personal Theory: WordPress will be a full fledged CMS

wpcms.png Don’t you agree with me? I think WP is moving towards that direction now. In the very near future, I am positive that it will become full fledged CMS (content management system) instead of being just a blogging platform.

With its open source and open platform nature, it will be so much easier to setup a website (for anybody) then. Just like now, there will be tons of plugins that would be built for standard website requirements (i.e payment gateways, statistical tools, newsletter integration, photo gallery.. etc).

I hope that WP 3.0 version will move in that direction.

I think it already is a full fledged CMS.

  2. Davinder says:

Yeah, WP will be CMS to look forward. With theme changes one can easily make wp install look like a site not blog. Future looks good !

  3. Ades says:

At the moment it has many limitations when it comes to applying different designs (and layouts) for each page. I think if that could be done, it could be considered CMS.

  4. David says:

You can make a template page for each page, just not for post yet.

I think you could be on to something with that thought. Web design would be easier with that type of setup.

I hope so. WP is lacking in two major areas based on the way site building is evolving, which is social. Profile creation/ logins and forum data integration.

  9. Norhafidz says:

It will be a full fledged CMS soon. Just a matter of time :)

  10. Recliners says:

I agree with that the universal popularity of WordPress as a platform will ensure that it soon becomes a CMS.

  11. Television says:

WordPress had given almost everyone the chance to have a blog and to focus mainly on the posts quality rather then on the setting up of the hard widgets.

  12. As far as I can see, it already has most of the functionality of most CMS packages with the world building onto it and it has the following that other products dont have. I think alot of companies out their might be a bit afraid.

For a beginner like me, WP is already a CMS in my eye. What makes it a full=fledged CMS may I ask?

BTW, which plugin you can use to integrate a payment gateway?

  14. Yan says:

Thank you, Ades. I’ll checking it now.

  15. PS3 says:

Nice article, do you think it can compete with Joomla as a fully fledged CMS?

  16. Josh says:

You are right, I read another blog, which corroborates same point.

  17. Nicole Price says:

Its a great CMS even in its present form. I have a couple of websites I manage through WordPress. It makes everything very convenient.

  18. wpdigger says:

This is one excellent looking theme. It really does have some nice features. Great work!
The plug-in is very easy to use, setup and then configuration is also very easy.

Got something to say? Go for it!
