Alexa modifies its ranking system

Alexa announced that it has modified its ranking system. Apparently, it’s now tracking from multiple sources (what are these sources, it’s not mentioned) to rank the sites. Previously it used to rely only on its Alexa Toolbar statistics to rank the sites. And the system was hugely flawed. I guess now we can expect more realistic stats from Alexa.
Due to this new ranking system, more people are now reporting that their sites have dropped in Alexa rankings. This holds true with my blog too. Now my blog’s weekly rank is at 88,172 and three months average is 133,396. So goodbye Top50K with the new system ;) How is your blog’s stats doing with the new system?

I like the new changes. It really didn’t seem fair if you didn’t have a MMO site where your visitor were more likely to be tech savvy enough to have the toolbar installed.

Alexa rankings have always been very contentious, so lets see if this will improve matters!

Heh I happen to think the reverse - the new ranking is highly inaccurate compared to the one one, although my blog had an improvement of ranks of almost 100,000 places.

One of my site’s ranking has increased, and second one’s ranking has decreased… I guess we need to wait and see how this “new ranking” will perform going forwards

My alexa ranking is great, improving day by day. Before i didn’t get better than inside the top 200k, now it’s going to the 100k.
