Do any of you guys know of good anti-spam plugin for WP? As you can see from the screenshot to the
right, SPAM are really wasting my time. I used to use Peter’s Custom Anti Spam before, it worked fine but I was still getting about 50-100 SPAM comments a day. After that few days ago, I changed to reCAPTCHA. I thought maybe this will reduce the spam, and at the same time I can help translate some books.
But the result was, even more SPAM comments! Now it gets more than 300 SPAM comments a day (see screenshot).
I know this can differ from blog to blog, but is there any effective anti-spam plugin out there? What can you recommend?

I think the answer to your question is in the screenshot – Akismet. It’s a great antispam filter and if trained right very rarely gives false positives. I wrote about what to do if you have so many spams being trapped that you cannot handle it on Sciencebase recently. The answer basically lies in learning to let go of your spam folders.

Yes, akismet isn’t so good… haven’t you tried Spam Karma 2… I don’t know the URL, but it catches almost all my spam effectively and silently.

its the better solution of the spam problem, easy, fast and well-coded, try and live happy!!!
I use http://www.projecthoneypot.org but it is down right now, It not only stops comment spammers, but also harvesters…. When it’s up again you can sign up and use this plugin http://stepien.com.pl/2007/04/28/httpbl_wordpress_plugin/ to integrate it with wordpress
David, Akismet is good but I want to get something that can prevent SPAM comments too. Moreover I don’t want to let go of my spam folder, there might be some legitimate comments.
Thanks guys, I will try spam karma 2!
I’m a big fan of Spam Karma (SK). It contains a series of configurable criteria for checking spam and there’s even an SK plugin that sends borderline comments past Akismet for a final say.
Not only has it been very effective at protecting my blog, it has done so with an insignificant number of false positives.
Up until this point, Akismet is doing a great job but should it reach a point when it can’t handle everything, looking into possible alternatives is definitely a must.

Spam Karma 2 all the way.
