We all have tried Amazon’s affiliate program with no or little success, didn’t we? But if your visitors are mainly web programmers, you might want to give Sitepoint Affiliate Program a try (www.sitepoint.com/affiliate/). Because the earnings for every book sale from SitePoint is a lot more than Amazon, actually way too high than Amazon.

Average earnings for 1 book is $8.00, with Amazon I think you will get some cents only. Here is the list of Sitepoint Books that you can promote. By the way, their books are really well written too.

Got paid

Yesterday, I got paid $98.00 for my referrals so far, I joined the program about a year ago. I know it’s kinda long - one year. But I do not promote the books much, I just display few of them on my site www.adesdesign.net. So given the passive promotion that I made during this period, I should say the program performed really well.

As you can see from the screenshot, the most return was on Marketplace Credits sale. These are the credits that you need to purchase if you want to use SitePoint Marketplace. In fact, many of the popular blogs and websites are sold through Sitepoint’s marketplace.

I am not sure if the earnings on marketplace credits are from my own purchase or from referred sales. Because I did purchase some credits myself too.

Latest blog sold through SitePoint is the blog of a Malaysian WP Theme Designer - Bob, BlogOhBlog.com was sold for $10,000. Not bad, for a blog that has been online for about 6 months. Congrats to Bob and good luck to the new owner.

This is something very important. I don’t actually get into referals and mostly try and concentrate on my content. With exams nearing in I have been working hard to complete articles till 31st december. I guess using some affliate in this period will be the best time as I can go on to promote those as I wont be writing too much..

I hope I can do lots of publicity in this period along with my exam..will give a try to this..

    Hi!

I’m an active promoter on sitepoint books on my site. In fact, that’s the only thing i promote on my PHP site in-terms of books. Thou their payouts are better than amazon but their affiliate system is really not what you would called up-to-date. They only have basic tracking and reporting system for sales and clicks. My account is reflecting more sales numbers then commission earned. Not really sure what is going on. But they are good with email support if you have issues. I will continue to promote their books. There are not many affiliate programs you can promote on a PHP programming site.

Yes SitePoint’s tracking system is not so advanced. I wish they could have updated it, there are so many great affiliate systems on the net.
