My PR7 is gone, but links are still selling…
In the latest PR update (actually, even before that, in the earlier PR downgrade), I lost my PR7, now it is PR5. Since it was a penalty from Google for selling text links on my blog, I had two options:
- Remove all the TLA and LinkWorth text link ads from the blog and request Google for reconsideration. Which, most probably would give me back my PR7.
- To keep the links and continue selling text links and doing paid reviews.
You are right. I did choose the second one.
Was it a right a decision?
From the financial point of view, it was a right decision. Because now I can keep making money with TLA and LinkWorth. Moreover, after the downgrade, I sold two more new direct text-links for $150 each, one is LogoMaid.com and another NetRadio.com.
Had I obeyed Google’s demands, I wouldn’t be talking about my new $300 income now.
This proves that, you can still make money with a lower PR blog. It also proves that, not all advertisers are looking for a high PR backlink. Rather they are looking for a good blog (preferably with high traffic) that is related to their business.

If I could afford an ad on your blog, you bet your butt I’d get in on that action. Unfortunately, you are too high for this gal:)
I’m sure you will sell out quickly though! Looking forward to the new design.

New blog design? cool. Can’t wait to see it. PR7 or PR5, I still enjoy reading your blog.

There comes a point in time when page rank is useless, for your blog now is the time. You obviously have page views to back up the value of your blog and page rank can not change that. As a matter of fact I can not understand what value high page rank all by itself adds to a blog so and why some advertisers value it so much. It doesn’t take into account the true measure of a site; Traffic

hi ades, i guess it is your blog network and the readership that was with you all the way. PR although determines your blog importance, but i think people will less think of it highly once you are well-known. PR are nice for new blogs, sometimes, i think that Google has did it right by balancing the pr for old n new blogs. New blogs will need to take the opportunity and build their network now.
Nothing stays permanent when we want to make money online. our ‘fate’ are determined by many parties, in your case google, tla, linkworth. in my case ebay & paypal, i also heard of ppl getting banned suddenly. so, if that happens, i’d want to know i’ve build my list and can direct my customers to my own ecommerce site.
We can do something to our network but we don’t pray we google or ebay that our rankings stay the same always. although it is nice to have high rankings on the net.

Hmm this always makes me think because if I make money now (selling links) there’s a chance that I won’t make money in the future if I get penalized.
Well, that leaves me to option 1. I’m not after the PR though.

I guess Google don’t only penalise sites during PR updates as they always review the reports they received by fellow customers but as you said, some adertisers don’t choose based on PR so in the end, it is up to you again.
What will be the price? It keeps me guessing.

cool!!
and I guess you don’t need Google support too..
Google juice is for those who write tips and wait for readers via Google but I am sure you following other ways to get good readers and thus this drop in PR wont hurt you..
keep up with money making :)

wow, $150 per link … just how on earth did you get the buyer? i’m impressed, have to admit TLA and LinkWorth don’t work well with my blog … maybe they hate me because i’m not on my own domain …
cheers …

Looking forward to the new design. are you doing it yourself or hiring someone?
By Ades on Nov 4, 2007
Both, asked someone to design the initial design and framework and I did some touch up myself.
