The long awaited PageRank update is in process now. After many blogs being penalized by Google (most probably manually), now the real PageRank update is on the way. So far, up to now, we have only seen PageRank downgrades, last being the worst, which took the whole internet by storm. Now everybody is talking about PageRank only. Darren has a confirmation (from 2 sources at Google) on reasons for the latest PageRank penalty, it’s all about text-link selling.

The Real Update

Many blogs have seen different PageRanks in their toolbars over the last few days. In order to know if the real PageRank update is in process, do look at the PR0 sites of your own. Many PR0 blogs have seen updates, one of my own project www.web2bookmarks.com was a new site launched few months back with PR0, today it received PR4. That means the long awaited PR update is here.

Should you submit your blog for reconsideration?

Now that we know the penalization was for purely text-selling. If you have been penalized, should you submit your blog for reconsideration? That’s totally up to you, if you want to get your PageRank back. You can go to Google Webmaster Tools and click on Request reconsideration link (see below).

You need to be signed in, to be able to see above Google Webmaster Tools dashboard.

As for me I don’t think I will apply for reconsideration. If I do, what I will get back? My PR7 and almost zero income from this blog. Because almost all my income from AdesBlog comes from text-links. So, no thanks Google! I will pass…

How about you? Have you experienced a new PR? For those who have been penalized, will you apply for reconsideration?

    if possible try adding

    rel=’nofollow’

to your paid links. It’s the Pank Rank trading that Google is really trying to curb.

surprised that you put all your eggs in one basket … how about other alternatives such as adsense etc? how’s your text-links doing after your PR’s update? any effect?

I was happy to see that my new blog (blogging with cents), that is less than 2mths old, has a PR of 4! Woohoo. I was hoping for a higher PR on my cowboy’s wife blog but that’s ok. I have new plans for it anyways;)
I don’t do any paid text links…I wonder if paid text links apply to PayPerPost??

ades …at first i have to say that u r brave man…& off course u do mind on Google…here u have written “As for me I don’t think I will apply for reconsideration. If I do, what I will get back? My PR7 and almost zero income from this blog. Because almost all my income from AdesBlog comes from text-links. So, no thanks Google! I will pass…

Actually what’s Google doing , who has controlled web business ,what should be the rule, who will maintain this rule is still a great enigma for web business…some are earning here billion of dollars & some are fighting…but it should be some specific rule…u should be paid for your idea, ur knowldge, ourwhat u r sharing & offcourse for our continuous labor & innovation….
World web business actually controlled by some websites like Google ,yahoo , msn mainly…msn & google….who is google ,what is msn …who is good….who is bad its a different question…because neutral point of view is really rough to give that opinion…naturally we all want to be show good…Google has inspired free software campaigning but what’s actually their mtot….now microsoft also gives that free software benefit…free laptops…but is it really fruitful for web business ,software development ,now some other topics also very popular that is social networking & green environment. its good but the question is it really good intention or just eye wash….please don’t think I am a dubious or pettish mind man…i am also a web business man during last 3 or 4 years…have earned satisfactory from Google ad sense….thanks Google from my point of view ..
but overall i have some questions what i feel really..
why Google punished link sell? I have no link business at all (cause i dont want to be punished:))but sometimes when i think for innovative idea based website then i feel what will be my benefit?
Is nt link is one kind of advertisement? So why google punished it? where Google is incoming (we don’t know the amount cz they dont share it!) from ad sense which is one kind of link selling…so its his monotonous business…Google algorithm is googles problem…how they organize it , its their headache but why they punished without specific reason or without any arraignment….why they organizes the algorithm for their own business…why they not clear what actually they want…why they shows link….why they not clear the ad sense revenue….why i am bound to believe & depends?

Is the reconsideration form for PR also?

Anyway, my blog was down graded from 4 to 3 but some new sites of mine got like 3-4. But I don’t give a good heck about it, It’s almost useless.

Google’s crackdown comes down basically on the sale/ transfer of PR. If someone buys a link on a site wether the link be in a sidebar through a reviewme review or Pay Per Post; Google sees this as you buying PR just as link exchanges would be you trading PR.

PR is accumulated by sites ‘voting’ for other sites by linking to them amongst other factors. By purchasing a spot on a site you are getting a vote not because of your content or your site’s relation to the voting site but because you paid. I dont want to get into a Rant so i decided to write a post on the subject. :D

ades, i my blog started with PR 2 after 2 months blogging. when i started PPP, i noticed 3 weeks back mine was demoted to PR 1. Few days before the the 2nd update lately, i delete ALL previous PPP and all others paid reviews on my site. Surprisingly , with the second update i got PR 4. i have an instinct that the new google algo will look into artificially increased link to certain site and punish those publishers and the link receivers.

I think that this would be the last update for this quarter! like you said, new blogs have PR d.. so i think this is for real..

hye ades, i think pagerank its not reliable now..my blog got pr3 but the content is not so good as some pr0 blog..

  18. By Ades on Oct 29, 2007

Congratulations on all the bloggers who got an upgrade in their PageRanks!

    - Carl, yes the form is for PR reconsideration too.

    - InternetPromoter, since some of my ads are sold through third party like TLA and LinkWorth there is no no=”follow” tag on them. If they complied with Google’s requirements and added no=follow tags automatically, then there wouldn’t be this problem. Let’s see if they will give in to Google’s demands…

my other 4 blogs increase in pr, but the main blog still maintain the same. like ades had said, i’m also don’t care about pagerank. for me, money is the thing that enthusiast me than that green indicator. although google is the top search engine, i still can monetize my site for yahoo, msn, dogpile. nevertheless, if google hate me, there are still another search engine that love me. don’t put all eggs in one basket right?..haha

    Hi Ades,

mine is not about PR, but two of my oldest blogs with most content (and all original content) have lost all their high rankings in almost all keywords on Google. On many keywords these two were almost always on the first page of google (if not among the first 3 sites). Then suddenly one day (2-3 weeks ago) one blog lost all its rankings and the other lost all but 3 or 4. And on those 3 or 4 words left it has become # 1 on google. I have no paid links at all, but these last months I had added a few free directory links to both. I guess that may have hurt, because previously I had achieved all those high google rankings only with content and a few links from my other blogs.
One of them hasn’t changed with thelast update, it’s still PR 2, the other one has decreased to PR 2 from 3. Do you think I could benefit from that “request reconsideration” form also? I would really appreciate learning your opinion on my situation.

I got my 1st PageRank at PR3. I’m not so aggressive on PPP and other Paid to blog previously..but now I am seeing more of these opportunities with a higher PR. What should I do? Should I grab the PPP to the fullest or just do it leisurely?

    I have got pr 4
    cheers

  23. By Ades on Oct 30, 2007

Tebesir, it’s possible that those directory links did affect your search engine results. I think by removing them and submitting your sites for reconsideration might bring back your rankings. However please note that it’s also possible that your sites new rankings might be just a normal situation, meaning the new update did affect your site negatively and your competition positively.

Kaiwah, it’s up to you. You should decide if you want to earn money or to get a higher PR. Earning money can also decrease your PR back to zero. Currently I am facing the same situation, to get back my PR7 or to make money. And I had chosen to make money.
