My first advertisement with Nuffnang.com had ended (on 9th June) but I am yet to see the earnings for this campaign. If you are new to Nuffnang, it’s a publisher program for Malaysian and Singaporean bloggers to earn money.

During the campaign, my blog became slow again. I had reported to Nuffnang about this earlier, but didn’t get a response, not even an auto-response. So I am not sure if they are working on it now. Thanks to Steve for letting me know about this, he was kind enough to test it and make sure that it was Nuffnang script that was making the blog slow.

Until this loading problem is solved, I have decided to remove the script.

I think Nuffnang should concentrate more on the system improvement and bloggers’ suggestions than organizing public events (another one coming up soon). Good PR can get you so far, but if the system is not functioning as expected, even worse if it is running with known problems (loading time, firefox problems). Then it will be a matter of time bloggers stop using the program completely.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not against organizing public events or marketing. It’s just that, you have to walk the talk. And I think, Nuffnang has to make a lot of walking now (or even running ;) when it comes to system performance and customer support. Because the talking part is already done. Also they are not in the monopoly market, to be able to afford to ignore system performance problems. There is a strong competitor for Nuffnang.

I hope if they read this post, they will take it as a constructive criticism and will come up with the system improvements soon.

P.S Will update you guys on the earnings of the campaign when it’s out.

    Hi Ades,

From your experience, I think it is really bad that NuffNang is taking so much time to respond to your email. In the current connected world of Internet, they should know that bad press is not good for the company.

In contrast, sometimes I wonder how come there is not much of problems with Adverlets.

    Hi Ades,

We are working on it as of right now.

I understand why you took down the ad, on behalf of Nuffnang, I thank you for supporting us all this while.

Thank you. Have a great Tuesday!

    Hi there,

It’s ming from the Nuffnang community.

Thank you for your support and suggestions. We value feedback of any kind.

With regards to the slow loading of blogs. Our script is significantly more intensive because we take great pains to measure unique visitors rather than page loads alone. Many checks are done, which include cookie issuing, ip address checking, browser, screen resolution, etc. All this is so we can assure our clients of strong statistics.

As for replying of emails. Myself and timothy take great pride and care in replying to all these as quickly as possible. We also have team members to help us like samantha, and we delegate tasks onwards to our technical team. Our team has grown to 9 members just this week!

We try to respond as quickly as possible, however, today the community stands at 4,000 members in singapore and malaysia. And the demands are great. There are many aspects to the business. PR might be one of our strongest ones, but we do it naturally out of sincerity.

For example, the event that is coming up in penang was organized by our nuffnangers themselves, so we did not dedicate too much time to that. We must thank these people for those efforts.

Timothy is today driving all over KL and has had 3 meetings scheduled, trying to drive out deals for all our members. Besides that, he is trying to meet as many bloggers as possible. And also contending with technical issues, and replying to emails.

Between the 2 of us, we get about 150 a day.

Occassionally if you do not get a reply. It might be because you have slipped through the net. That is our fault. And we take full responsibility for it. Please accept our humblest apologies, and we pray for your understanding and patience in helping us grow.

    Thank you.

    Best,
    Ming

yeh…yeh i already get my earning…i checked in my earning page i notice that “Earnings will be updated within 3 working days after the ad campaign is completed. “

The site is faster now. :D

I was not against Nuffnang but against the bad performance of the plugin. Bloggers do get visit from around the world and speed maybe low(mine) for your part of the world but average or high in other parts. The stats are a good thing(advertisers wise) but should not be at the cost of visitors.

But I’m happy that you are working on it and that Ades will make money eventually. ;)

    P.S.
I have 2.4Mbps(avg) so it should be fast. What is the average speed in Singapore and Malaysia?

Interesting read. Would love to know if your campaign has been updated yet? Would love to know if you have earn’t your first million yet? Only joking any amount is a good starting point.

    Hi Samantha and Ming,

Thank you for your prompt replies. I appreciate it. It’s good to know that you are working very hard and coming up with many improvements soon.

I know you are trying to track as many things as possible so that the tracking is done thoroughly. As you said it is to ensure that the counts are for unique visitor and not pageloads. But I am very sure, your scripts could be further optimized. Because even though, we bloggers understand what you are trying to do, we cannot afford to slow down our blogs.

    Regards, Ades

Malique, it’s almost like in the papers huh? ;) Catchy titles are good for traffic…

Steve, your speed is like a lightning compared to most of the users in Malaysia. Here it’s below 1mbps, and that’s just in words. The actual performance is about 50-200kbps.

You are right about it, it should not be at the cost of the bloggers and their visitors.

It’s still taking long time for me to load you page Ades. I use cable and it’s 5 Mbps. It’s something to do with your graphics too may be. Just a suggestion. :)

I will check it and try to optimize it further. It may be one of the scripts, or the hosting itself. Sometimes some hosting works very slow in some countries.

the nuffnang ads also load too slow for me…
and i think you can get better clicks from adsense than nuffnang.
