It seems like Google is fed up from getting emails from publishers saying that they have clicked accidentally on their own ads. Finally, Google said: “Accidents happen so no need to inform us”.

As most of you know, our program policies state that publishers are not permitted to click on their own ads for any reason. For this reason, we’ve received many emails from publishers letting us know that they’ve accidentally clicked on their own ads. If you’re one of these publishers, we truly appreciate the efforts you’ve made to monitor your account and keep it in good standing. However, we do understand that an accidental click may occur from time to time, so there’s no need to contact us each instance this occurs.

I hope this won’t send a wrong message to some publishers, please note that making money on your own ads will still be short lived. Google will still be monitoring publisher accounts for fraud clicks.

I guess Google AdSense team is having problem tracking all those reports generated from self accidental clicks.

I find it funny though. My imagination was like Google telling them “ok!ok! Accidents happen, now just move along now shall we?” :)

Meaning it’s fine not to report if you clicked accidentally.

It doesn’t surprise me that Google felt compelled to release this statement. There is so much paranoia going around about people being banned from clicking their own ads, it defies belief!

I bet google got bulks of emails from responsible publishers contacting them. From time to time I accidently click myself. Now I think they tally the # of times in a certain geographical region. So better not try anything fishy. :)

I was very worried when I accidentally clicked on one of my ads. I had read in that past that users were banned just because they did not report these clicks. I quickly sent out an email and got a reply with the same message as that blog post. Thank goodness I wasn’t banned.
