Chris Jordan – transforming stats to pictures

Chris Jordan has made an amazing gallery. He basically transformed the statistics into pictures, for example every 5 minutes 2million plastic beverage bottles are used in the United States. Do you want to see how this many bottles look in one picture?

Pictures below (partial screenshots, see the gallery for full pictures) depict the 2.3 million folded prison uniforms, equal to the number of Americans incarcerated in 2005.

Chris says: “My only caveat about this series is that the prints must be seen in person to be experienced the way they are intended. As with any large artwork, their scale carries a vital part of their substance which is lost in these little web images.”

I think they are still amazing, even in these small pictures. If he comes to KL, Malaysia, I would gladly attend his exhibition to see the art in its full size.

Holy hell, these works of art are amazing! I see that he is going to be doing an exhibit between June 30th to September in Pasadena. That is only two hours away from me. Hmm… maybe I should find a reason to go to Pasadena so I can see his exhibit. =]
