goDaddy.com - No osCommerce scripts please!

goDaddy doesn’t stop surprising people. Recently I registered a hosting plan for one of my projects with them and since this project will be an online shop, I needed to install osCommerce. To my surprise goDaddy blocked osCommerce installations on all their shared hosting plans. I am not sure if you can install on their Dedicated Servers (I think it’s possible).
The good thing is that I can still use the hosting for my other projects, imagine if a normal person registers it and finds out that the hosting that he/she just registered is useless. I don’t know if you can get a refund for that. (I had purchased the hosting for 1 full year). Even if you could, I am sure it will take some time.
So next time you want to install osCommerce, goDaddy should be out of the list (unless it’s dedicated server).

I used GoDaddy last year and have decided to switch.
Going into it’s domain control is like going into a jungle. Too much unwanted things that confuse you.
It lack so many things and make easy things so difficult.
The good thing is my experience with it’s customer service was a fast and pleasant one.

I had a bad experience with RegisterFly.com (which I heard is now owned by Godaddy). I’m using RegisterGenius.com for its low web hosting now and I’m happy with their good service so far.

Yep - Bad news, they want you to use their shopping cart for a fee. I was shocked too and very cross - I have used goDaddy for years and its a slap in the face. You can use an installation of osCommerce on a dedicated server with them, again more money for functionality.
