Do you need to raise money for your friend? or Do you want to accept donations on your blog? Well ChipIn just does that and it does it very well. ChipIn is a Web-based service that simplifies the process of collecting money from people by PayPal or Credit Card.

Creating your widget is very easy, you don’t even need to sign up. Because all the funds will go directly to your PayPal account.

Here is the steps for creating your widget:

  1. Give a Name for your fund raising
  2. Enter the amount that you want to raise
  3. Enter the end date for the event
  4. Enter your PayPal email
  5. Post the code into your blog or site
  6. Sit back and wait for your money

However if you want more control on your events and its stats, then signing up for ChipIn account is recommended.

P.S Widget is in flash and it’s interactive. It’s shows the percentage of money collected and info about your “fund raising event”.

    Another company that uses a widget to help you raise money online is Firstgiving. Firstgiving is a website that helps anyone create a free personalized fundraising page for any non-profit registered with GuideStar, a registry of nearly 2MM non-profits. After you make your page you can promote it online with a widget or a badge; Firstgiving also provides a unique URL for your fundraising page so you can include it in your email signature, forum signature, etc. Another fantastic thing about Firstgiving is that they send all funds raised directly to the non-profit eliminating the need to use your paypal account and the worry of where the money needs to go and how it is getting there.

    I have seen all kinds of fundraising - from magazines to other things that I buy to make the neighbor kids feel happy. How about coffee - something I can really use;)
