With more and more ISPs shaping their traffic (blocking p2p clients), I think it’s time to introduce web-based p2p clients, what do you think? There is already such script which is written in php, it’s called TorrentFlux. However not everybody can install this kind of script on their system let alone own a web hosting that runs on linux. So I think if someone came up with a website that offers web-based p2p file sharing service, I am sure he would make a lot of money out of it.

Here is why you could make money on this: Firstly, as far as I know there is no such service on the net (not yet - but will be soon). Secondly there is a huge demand for it (from countries whose ISPs block p2p traffic). So anyone wants to develop such service and make money? Let me know if you become rich on this idea ;)

The “business” you are talking about is already running since the dawn of the p2p/bit-torrent era. This is not much of an innovation.

It is already a common practice by some users to use a VPN service to bypass traffic shaping by ISPs. A growing number of websites also provide paid Bit-Torrent services using web-based clients like TorrentFlux.

And one note, Bitlet DOES NOT solve the issue of traffic throttling because it is basically a client-side Java Applet that opens ports on the user’s machine for data transfer.

Here’s one I use. Upload it to a Linux L.A.M.P server (L.A.M.P= Linux Apache MySQL PHP)

THE BEST WEB BASED P2P CLIENT IS FILESWIRE.COM by miles. Its a full web-based p2p client and now support Gnutella so there are millions of files available.

Torrent Relay (TorRelay.com) is impressive. It is a completely SERVER-SIDE P2P client. 100% online, as they promise. The only problem is 800 MB limit for free users. That’s not so bad for some people, but very bad for others.

BitLet.org, FilesWire.com: Both are Client-side, meaning the torrent download still happens in your computer. On the other hand, TorRelay does its torrent downloads in it’s own server. Once complete, you simply download the file like a normal download.

Fusteeno.com seems to be similar to TorRelay.com as it claims to be server-side. But I cannot find more information in the website. For now I will stick with TorRelay. In fact a file is being downloaded as we speak.

Torrent Relay is fantastic… Some of the neater features really have me hooked, like Auto Save.
