reinvigorate.com – nice stats for your site

reinvigorate beta

One of the coolest site tracking services reinvigorate is back and it is in beta testing at the moment, registration is for invites only. If you leave your email at their site they will contact you back. Apparently they are testing (load testing?) and adding more and more users from time to time. (I got my invitation within several months) I had used reinvigorate for some time before they discontinued it, if you didn’t know about it then here is how the old version looked like. More screenshots from the new version here and here.

PayPal Debit Card – not for all…

paypal debit cardYou might be aware that some of PayPal’s international users are still can’t withdraw their funds, they can only withdraw to US bank accounts. Recent introduction of Debit Card by PayPal had made many such users happy, unfortunately their happiness didn’t last long, because this debit card is not for everybody. And even worse it’s not for international users it’s mostly for US users. One of the features of PayPal Debit Card is that you can withdraw cash from your PayPal account at ATMs worldwide. This could be a great solution to the problem that international users are having, for now they have to use third party Debit Cards like VMDB.

Web-based torrent client anyone?

With more and more ISPs shaping their traffic (blocking p2p clients), I think it’s time to introduce web-based p2p clients, what do you think? There is already such script which is written in php, it’s called TorrentFlux. However not everybody can install this kind of script on their system let alone own a web hosting that runs on linux. So I think if someone came up with a website that offers web-based p2p file sharing service, I am sure he would make a lot of money out of it.

Here is why you could make money on this: Firstly, as far as I know there is no such service on the net (not yet – but will be soon). Secondly there is a huge demand for it (from countries whose ISPs block p2p traffic). So anyone wants to develop such service and make money? Let me know if you become rich on this idea ;)

Script – Easy shout-box for your website

Yshout! is a AJAX+CSS+PHP based shout-box script. It is XHTML compliant and very easy to install. Here you can see the working demo. The name of the script looks like as if it is from Yahoo! Maybe the author wants Yahoo! to acquire this script, maybe? http://yurivish.com/yshout/

50PagesWebsite.com

50PagesWebsite.com as its name says consists of 50 pages, it’s a unique directory which employs a new web advertising concept. Each page has 10 sponsored website ads with a screenshot and description. The pricing structure is also interesting, first page costs $50 for a permanent ad, and the next page costs $49 and it goes like this till the 50th page, which costs only $1.

FYI first three and last five pages have already been sold out. http://www.50pageswebsite.com

More and more ISPs limiting torrent traffic, the solution?

More and more ISP’s are limiting BitTorrent traffic on their networks. And this leads to decreased download as well as upload rate, and sometimes you won’t be able to connect at all. The list of ISP’s that limit BitTorrent traffic, or plan to do so is growing every day, here’s a list of ISPs that are known to cause trouble for BitTorrent clients or P2P in general.

So how to get back your full download speed? The answer lies in encrypting your torrent protocol.

how to encrypt your protocol

Encrypting your torrents will prevent throttling ISP’s from shaping your traffic. Here is a tutorial on how to enable encryption in Azureus, uTorrent, and Bitcomet, the three most popular torrent clients. [via torrentfreak]

Ripper (axxo) tops the torrent search results on isohunt

isohunt top searches

It’s not secret that p2p (peer-to-peer) file distribution protocols like bit-torrent has been used for sharing copyrighted materials. And it’s not secret either that the producers/owners of these copyrighted materials are struggling to stop the illegal sharing of their materials.

And not only that, some of the DVD rippers like axxo became so popular for their high quality and latest DVDrips that people are now no longer searching for movie titles, instead they are searching for the ripper name on sites like isohunt.

I guess p2p is a big headache for many companies. But p2p is not to blame, p2p is like a knife, a tool that you can use for good or bad purposes. You can either cut your bread or commit a crime.

Developments on the gCard

gcard claim funds

Please check this site regularly in order to get the latest info on the gCard and on how to get your funds back. One option they are discussing now is to return the funds in the form of a check. I think that would be a pretty good solution. The site requires you to enter the first 5 digits of your card and gives you access to a claim form (PDF) that you should fill up and send it to them, together with your gcard cut in 2 pieces (Please keep a photocopy/scanned copy of your card for your own records).

gCard (paypal withdrawal) service discontinued.

gCard was a debit card that international paypal users could withdraw their funds to. Unfortunately they have discontinued their service in a very short notice and their website is inaccessible now. I myself a gCard user didn’t get any emails from them though, I might have accidentally deleted the email. I hope they will deal professionally and return the funds to the owners. Below is the email that gCard sent to cardholders.

Dear Cardholder,

We regret to inform you that all current card programs sponsored by CU-Connect
and North York Community Credit Union (our issuing bank) are being wound down on
a step-by-step basis. Unfortunately this includes all current gCards.

A copy of the Initial Order and other materials filed with respect to the CCAA
proceeding is available on the website of KPMG Inc., the Court-appointed monitor
of CU-Connect, at www.kpmg.ca/cu-connect.

The initial step is that as of 2:00 p.m. EST on January 5, 2007, no new card
activations and no new loads will be permitted. THIS INCLUDES ALL LOAD OPTIONS
AND ALL CARD CARD-TO-CARD TRANSFERS.
All loads received after this deadline will be returned to its remitter, cost of
return will be charged to the remitter.

All cardholders will be able to process ATM withdrawals until a time period not
defined yet (probably 30 days from today) and continue to access to their online
banking at https://bank.mygcard.com . If cardholders cannot fully withdraw their
funds within the allotted time period, we will work to ensure that the issuing
bank will return all balances directly to the cardholders.

Unfortunately we received this announcement from CardOne Plus (the banking
platform) only today, and were not able to inform you before. We are surprised
at the short notice, and are sorry for the inconvenience caused.

We are in the process of launching a new card which is scheduled to be available
by the end of January/beginning of February, 2007. At this time we will replace
your current gCard by a new one.

Sincerely,
gCard Team
