Free Google Sitemap Generator sitemap.xml

XML-Sitemaps.com - offers Free Google Sitemap generating service with unlimited number of URLs per sitemap. When your sitemap is ready you can download it in .xml, xml.gz, .ror, .html and .txt file formats. What a wonderful tool compared to Google’s official sitemap generator script.

Here is what you have to do if you want to use Google’s script to generate a sitemap:

  1. Download the Sitemap Generator program files. Extract the files to a local directory.
  2. Create a configuration file for your site using the provided example_config.xml file as a template. Modify this file as needed for your site and save it.
  3. Upload the necessary files to your web server.
  4. Run sitemap_gen.py.
  5. Add the generated Sitemap to your Google Sitemaps account.
  6. Set up a recurring script. (optional)

No wonder adoption of Google Sitemaps are very slow, because it is too hassle to get your sitemap created in the first place. Google should develop online tool similar to XML-Sitemaps or acquire this kind of site and integrate it in the Google Webmaster Account. And only then there would be millions of people submitting their sitemaps to Google everyday.

Some of the benefits of submitting your website’s sitemap to Google are:

  1. You can make sure we have access to your site, and see when Googlebot last visited.
  2. View top content from your site and see the words that other sites use to link to it.
  3. Find the top queries that drive traffic to your site and where your site is included in the top search results.
  4. See how your site is indexed and which of your pages are included in the index.

When you are done creating your sitemap, you can submit it here. If you want to get listed in Google then the first thing you should do is to submit your sitemap, especially if it is a new site. Because if you just wait for Google to index your site itself, it could take quite some time.

    it is not a good site map generator because it gives only 500 urls online and for unlimited you have to install it on your server which is a headache. it should be unlimited online too otherwise there are hundreds of such sites on www already so no need for just a new :-s
