Personally I do not really use YahooGroups or any other groups, but in my MBA course I had to join some, students have created YahooGroups where we can share files and messages and it has been really useful. However recently (about two-three weeks ago) our YahooGroups were hit by SPAM, emails were sent out with the legitimate group member names together with an attachment, obviously attachments were viruses. Many students’ and even some lecturer’s PCs were affected.
Due to huge number of emails we received (eventhough the preference of the yahoogroups was no-emails web only) we had to close the groups. Currently we are looking for a new websites that offer the same services like YahooGroups, if you know of any please let me know. I hope Yahoo will do something about it before their YahooGroups becomes a spam-engine and before they lose all the members.
