Google Alerts should get it’s own domain?

I noticed that Google Alerts (http://www.google.com/alerts) comes second in the search results when you search for “Google Alerts” in Google. First comes a website with a domain name www.googlealert.com, traffic rank for this website at Alexa is 9,994. However traffic rank for Google at Alexa is 3. I don’t know if it is because Google Alerts does not have it’s own domain name, currently it is located under google.com/alerts. Since it is located under Google.com it should also affect the search results, because after all traffic rank for Google.com is 3!? And I believe original sites should be given more importance than the ones that are based on the original sites’ services. I also noticed that GoogleAlerts.com has already been registered with this same company ;) I don’t if Google can get it back.
